KKM Episode 28: Atrocious Reunion/A Brutal Reunion
Enter Caloria, a city bright with the rising sun and an
old man standing on a boat. It takes but a moment for us to recognize his voice and know that it is Yosak, once again, in disguise. A pigeon leaves his hands and flies off across the water. Leaving us wondering just what this episode will bring us...
I'm personally thinking it should involve water dragons, Lina, Gourry, Zelgadis, and Amelia, but that's just me. End Slayer's reference. (And you have NO idea how long it took me to realize that the episode in reference really doesn't happen in KKM!) The show, however, has different ideas and it's a far cry from the warmth of the outdoors we opened with.
It would appear that the Wincott poison has taken hold of Gunter's body so they decided to cryogenically freeze his body while imparting his 'soul' to a doll.
It would seem that someone gave Gunter the Wincott poison which hasn't been used in 1,000 years and is the most 'horrific, most perverted poison that lets those of the Wincott bloodline manipulate the victims even after their death. Methinks this is the horror portion of our storyline. The next thing you know, we'll have viruses running rampant and blood dog carcases trying to eat up poor doll!Gunter Greta! For shame...
But I do get a kick out of Gunter thinking he's dead ♥ He's the wonderful bride version of the Demon King! And so cute ♥ Especially in his death ray wielding, hair growing miniature doll that even Gwendal thinks matches his Majesty well.
And did I mention he flies?

Murata is such a ladies man ♥ He's hitting on the maid! Heh. And have I mentioned how much I adore murata's blond hair and blue eyes? This combination should be utilized more often in anime. *drools* Of course, Yuuri doesn't quite agree. He thinks Murata is an 'old man at heart.' *sniffs*
Childhood disfigurements and accidents that make people lose their voices happen all the time in anime and manga. I wouldn't be surprised if the real Norman Gilbit hadn't been sleeping in a coma for the last three years rather than dead.
After hearing this sob story, Murata exclaims, "Well, that's a coincidence! Actually Colonel Crusoe here lost both his voice and eyesight while cleaning the bathtub --->An allusion to our
lovely bath scene back in episode 4?<--- That's why he wears a hat and sunglasses." My guess is he's referring to those eyes in the back of Yuuri's head. *shudders* Frightful image that...
But yes, back to the point. Apparently, Yuuri's dearly departed mother, Julia carried the Wincott bloodline and Crusoe tends to make odd emotional noises whenever her name is mentioned.
And then the old man gives us history lesson. "This land was once under the control of the very Wincott family his mother comes from. They were a great clan who defeated the evil Originators who threatened to engulf the world. However, one day they began to tyrannize the populace eventually leading to a dictatorship of darkness and terror over the land. The common folk took a stand against the unreasonable tyranny [I do so love how they zoom in on Yuuri when this line is said ♥] and fought in spite of it resulting in the founding of the country of Caloria." That clan became known as the demon tribe.
Murata seems surprise that 'Some people actually believe that version of history.' --> Eeek~!! *molests Murata* WHY DIDN'T I CATCH ANY OF THIS THE FIRST TIME AROUND!<---
What's this! It looks like we have some unexpected vistors. One of which is our favorite person, Adelbert von Grantz! Yuuri doesn't seem so pleased to meet him again. And it looks as though Adelbert's friend,
Lord Maxine has long standing business with our host.
It would appear that rumors are circulating suggesting that even though Caloria is a part of Small Cimaron's territory, Caloria is dealing directly with the royal chambers of Big Cimaron. Maxine insists on hearing from Gilbit's on lips and face that the rumor is false and pulls off the mask.
*gasp!* Who is this fair maiden! Oh. Wait. I already spoiled you on that... *grumbles* Anyways, Norman Gilbit actually died in a carriage accident 3 years ago and since by Calorian law, their adopted son isn't recognized and women can't inherit, Gilbit's wife took up the ruse to protect herself and her son. I'm liking her already ♥

Meanwhile,
Wolfram isn't looking so hot. He's worried about Yuri and decides to head back to the castle to analyze information. Whoever knew Wolfram was studious?
Wolfram's so cool that even the Corporal notices! Of course, his subordinates bets that the Corporal is in love with Wolfram ^__^ His fellow soldier didn't take kindly to that. *sighs* He was just trying to lighten the mood... Of course, if you're watching the official version, it's actually translated as the men betting on Wolfram to win the Royal Love Lottery :D (and yes I did watch both)
Eh? What's this? Wolfram lied and didn't go back to the castle! It seems he's at the Shrine and ready to force his way in! The maiden's really aren't putting up much of a fight though. Where are all those soldiers who accosted Yuuri first thing in Episode 4? Just because it's night time doesn't mean they should all be asleep!
But nope. Wolfram's just walking aimlessly around the shrine.
Isn't he so cute... And it would appear that
Gisella is present as well to give thanks for her father's life and to pray for Yuuri and Conrart--I mean Lord Weller.
Wolfram comments, "Knowing Gunter, he could easily shed his skin." XD You gotta love the snake references considering Wolfram views him as a rival for Yuuri's love ^_____^
Outside Ulrike's door, Wolfram makes a spectacle of himself saying he'll pay as much as she wants in order to see her. He's disappointed in Ulrike after all. I mean, "just because she failed to transport Yuuri doesn't mean she can lock herself away in her room!"
Ouch. I'd hate to be Wolfram right now, but he deserved it! He
made Ulrike cry :( Apparently, Ulrike tried to send Yuuri to the other world when he was under attack but there was a force interfering with the magic. They had not summoned him here this time. I wonder who those other hands are that did the pulling... (any bets?) It would seem Ulrike is more upset for losing track of Yuuri's whereabouts more than anything else. Poor girl. It's her first mistake in 800 years. That has to be tough.
*cuddles the poor girl*
BUT it would see that they can sense the Maou aura using a
crystal ball that shines like a star!
Celi's is particularly "annoyingly bright" and cheerful this evening. She appears to be in human territory. And then a comet bursts past Celi's star! It must be so because Wolfram says it is. "Yuri's magic powers are powerful and extreme! They're also extremely erratic." By this, he knows for certain that it's Yuuri!
Ah, Wolfram...I doubt you know how telling your facial expression is when you speak of Yuuri being alive ♥ Is this tru wuv?
Oh wait! It flew past Celi which means Yuuri has to be close by! Luckly, Gisela recently received a letter by pigeon from Celi asking for more facial ointment. She needs it sent ASAP to Cimaron. Don't you just love these little coincidences?
* * *
Maxine seems to be in Caloria on the orders of King Salaregui of Small Cimaron (If I remember correctly, he's featured in the OVA's?) to interrogate Gilbit, but he has found "nothing but a woman of little importance." *restrains the urge to slap the man*
Well, I don't know about you, but Yuuri and Murata seem pretty impressed with Flynn! Especially after they hear why she's masquerading as a disfigured, mute dead man which I've already mentioned. And I have to fangirl Murata here ♥ He's so logical and sensible thinking of how hot and sweaty she has to get in the summertime! ♥♥♥ My love knows no bounds for this man.
It would seem that Flynn has been instigating an "independent anti-war movement against main Cimaron opening hostilities?" Flynn denies all as rumors. But then what bout the Wincott poison?
It would seem that given the proper offer, she'd sell it to anyone! I wonder how much it costs...However, the name of the person who bought it is off limits.
She should have known they'd resort to violence. And Adelbert doesn't seem to impressed with Maxine's tactics. He's as "uncouth as ever."
Yuuri's attempts to save Flynn just draws attention to himself. It would seem Adelbert wasn't fooled at all by Yuuri's disguise. However, he's definitely miffed that Conrart gave that pendant to Yuuri. Apparently, the pendant has already turned into 'Yuuri's' color. Whatever that means.
Oh wait! There are more visitors! Quick! Escape out the window! Of course, Yuuri and Flynn and co are all left behind to deal with Big Cimaron's troops. That's not very nice of them.
Of course, Yuuri is
shell shocked when he sees them and
goes medieval on their asses because of what they
did to Conrart!
Mmmm. Coffee.
Or is that tea?
At least Yuuri is looking mighty fetching in
Murata's arms dreaming of being molested by Maou!Yuuri, his second soul.
And Murata seems to have all the answers. He tells Flynn that Yuuri protected them from getting wet. But still, it's not very nice of him to point out that Yuuri could be easily killed right now. *shakes head* You're just asking for it now! But Flynn is nice and would rather use him rather than killed. Murata, however, won't allow Yuuri to be used for Evil purposes because he's already using him for 'evil' purposes because "most people with new-found power tend to abuse it." What will Flynn ask for? Land? People? Money? Or the world?
* * *
Wolfram seems to be arguing with Gwendal. He wants to go to Yuri. Gwendal wants Wolfram to stay at home and mind the nest. When Gwendal asks Wolfram if he understands why Gwendal wants him to stay at home, Wolfram replies, "Is it because I am short-temperated and selfish?
Gwendal: That is a factor.
Wolfram: Is it because I lack prudence and am too emotional to act stealthily in enemy territory?
Gwendal: You have analyzed yourself well.
However, none of those are the correct reason. [I'm not getting it though. Why doesn't Gwendal want Wolfram to go chasing after Yuri?]
This still isn't enough to deter Wolfram though.
Looking emo over his brother's dictates, Wolfram happens to see Gisela leave on a trip to an onsen in Hildeyard towards Van da Via. It just so happens this is on the western edge of Cimaron :D It's a godsend for Wolfram!
And thus ends the episode with Wolfram riding off into the burgeoning light of the rising sun, full of hope ♥
Tune in tomorrow for
sagemuraken's dastardly post of uh, seasickness? At least I'm sure Wolfram will be ^__^
