Episode 041: Conrad's Return
Episode 041: Conrad's Return

The episode starts with a couple of ships leaving (I suppose, from Francshire?) and a very angry Belal as he remembers what happened in the previous episode (Team Mazoku stealing the box and foiling his evil plans lol). But of course, Belal, like all the anime antagonists out there, is intent on becoming the king of the world and I quote, "I won't let anyone get in my way!" XD
And then cut to the title of the episode.
In Francshire castle, Yuuri wakes up and realizes he's not in Blood Pledge Castle. Then he remembers Conrad from before, who was wounded and close to dying. Yuuri runs to the door and bumps into Gwendal.
Gwendal asks him what he was doing and told him to just sleep quietly. Yuuri continues to ask him where Conrad is and what happened to him. When Gwendal doesn't answer, Yuuri assumes the worst but Gwendal says that Conrad is fine and is perfectly inside the castle. (Gwendal, suspense much? ^^")
awww Yuuri. <3
(Enter Gunter, Wolfram and Murata behind Gwendal) Yuuri is relieved but he's about to collapse. Gunter catches him in the shoulder and thinks that Yuuri must be tired since he used Maryoku in unfamiliar human territory. Yuuri replies that he's fine and again asked for Conrad.
Wolfram and Muraken looks worried . Gunter who looks hot as always explains that Conrad is being guarded in a special room in the castle.
Cue next scene. There are footsteps and there's Hube leaning on a wall. He stands in attention to a woman in a purple dress who turns out to be Cheri-sama!
I'd ship these two if they weren't mother and son XD
Cheri asks how Conrad is doing. Conrad seems surprised and tells his mom that he has become a criminal. But Cheri-sama replies, "Is a mother not allowed to want to see her son?" (aww.) She takes Conrad's face in her hands and apologizes.
Back to Yuuri's room. Yuuri's not happy about Conrad being "guarded". He reasons Conrad didn't do anything wrong so Gwendal reminds Conrad's wrongdoings for him: 1.) Leaving the Maou's side without permission, and 2.) Siding with Big Shimaron.
Gwendal~
Yuuri insists that Conrad didn't betray them and that in the end, it was Conrad who saved them but Gwendal tells him that Conrad pointed his sword at the Maou. Then Gunter becomes motherly because Daddy Gwendal isn't being very therapeutic intervenes and asked Yuuri to calm down but Yuuri has had enough and declares that he's going to see and talk to Conrad.
Then the door opens, and there's Leila. She explains that they are also thinking of Conrad's safety, since some people know Conrad as someone from Big Shimaron. But Yuuri wants to see him asap! Gwendal cuts in and tells him that the negotiations and treaty signing ceremony is about to begin. Yuuri has no idea what's happening, obviously so Leila explains that King Antoine has decided to enter the alliance with Shin Makoku.
Yuuri wonders why he's doing the treaty signing now, because they were usually handled by Gwendal. Gwendal explains that those wishing to enter an alliance with Shin Makoku are those who were swayed by Yuuri's actions and are loyal to Yuuri. Yuuri, therefore, has a responsibility to face those people.
Next scene~
Gunter is talking about how such an alliance had never existed before and it's all thanks to Yuuri, who brought all of this about. Wolf says that Yuuri is a wimp who doesn't care upon whom he lavishes his graces.LOL. Yuuri turns to him and Wolfram admits that his actions brought about good results in the end. Yuuri thanks him. Murata cuts in, saying it's time for work.
Yuuri~ he just called you a wimp and you're thanking him. XD
Back to the dungeons...
Cheri-sama is telling Conrad about her and Dan Hiri's story.
Cheri: When I announced that I intended to marry Dan Hiri, everyone around me opposed it.
Conrad: I can imagine. The Maou and a mere swordsman… and a human, at that.
Cheri: But we really loved each other.
Conrad: I know. Even though you two were separated, Father was always thinking about you.

chibi Conrad~
A brown-haired young boy (whom we can safely assume to be Conrad) wakes up inside a tent. hahah when I saw this, an image of jake gyllenhaal immediately popped into my head. ^^" He goes out and finds a man sitting in front of a fire, who asks him: "What's wrong? You were calling for your mother in your sleep." Conrad sits beside the man (whom we can assume to be Dan Hiri - I'm not sure if at this point of the series everyone knows who he is ^^").
Conrad asks him if he has never called out Cheri's name before. Dan Hiri is silent but he is somewhat smiling and Conrad asks him again, "You still love Mother, right?" and he replies with "I like the name.. Cecilia."
Back to the dungeons again, Cheri seems happy to hear that story and tells Conrad that his father was that kind of person. Conrad asks Cheri how she convinced everyone regarding her marriage with Dan Hiri. Cheri admits that there was nothing she could do but then, Shinou gave his approval.
Flashback of Ulrike telling Cheri that upon her marriage to Dan Hiri Weller, her destiny will be set in motion. That was the reason Shinou chose her to become the Maou. Cheri seems shocked but Ulrike reassures her that her love will lead the way in changing the world.
Shinou: Cheri, I choose you! …because you have teh ultimate baby-who'll-grow-up-to-be-a-hot-guy-and-will-conveniently-become-the-key-to-the-boxes-making skillz.
Cheri tells Conrad that she didn't understand Ulrike then and it wasn't until after he was born and Dan Hiri went on a journey that she realized something. Cheri sadly turns to Conrad and tells him, "I have only caused you pain."
Conrad replies, "I am not unhappy. There were hard times, but I don't think that I am unfortunate. Rather, I am fortunate because there are many things that I want to protect."
It seems that Conrad knew all along about his family. Conrad shares that when they went out on a journey to Big Shimaron, Dan Hiri told him about the family secret.
OMG YOZAK~~
Back at Francshire castle.
Antoine and Yuuri are in a treaty signing and Shin Makoku and Francshire are now officially in an alliance. They shake hands and everyone's smiling.
Then cut to the tower scene and there's Rapunzel's long hair a rope hanging from a window.
Conrad is climbing out of the window and Yozak asks him if he was really going. Conrad answers in affirmative and explains that his presence will only cause Yuuri trouble. Yozak thinks that Yuuri wouldn't worry about that and that he will be devastated when he finds that Conrad was gone. But Conrad is already out of the window and is telling Yozak that he's leaving the Majesty to him. He tells Yozak, "Even if I'm not here, His Majesty will still manage wonderfully. Tell him I believe that. And no matter how far away I may be, I'll be watching over him."
Yozak thinks that Conrad should say those kinds of things in person. (and I agree. ^^")
What Yozak is doing in Conrad's supposed-to-be guarded cell so late at night, why Conrad had in his possession a rope and why the bed is positioned like that, we will never know. …But everyone's always free to speculate ^___^
Next scene~
My OT3 Yuuri, Wolfram and Murata are talking about what will happen to Conrad.
Muraken looks evil~
Wolfram says that it's complicated because Conrad is silent about the issue. Murata says that Conrad probably has his own reasons and if they have the time to discuss it, they'll reach an understanding but he adds that if they leave it to him, it'll be resolved in no time at all. (LOL.) And then, out of nowhere, he asks someone to bring him a katsudon. (go figure.)
And surprise surprise, Yozak comes out from behind a tree. (He's everywhere~~~) Yozak says that "It's happened after all." but Murata doesn't seem surprised and says that Sir Weller is unexpectedly stubborn. Yozak agrees and adds that having someone like Conrad for a captain is troublesome for the people under him. Yuuri has no idea what's happening so Yozak tells him that the Captain has escaped. (oh noes~) But Yuuri will not believe it since Conrad told him that he will return to Shin Makoku with them.
Eventually, the guards caught up with what's happening and reports to King Antoine that Conrad has escaped.
Cue commercial break~
Conrad, who's wearing a serious expression, is walking in the woods under the full moon. Conrad suddenly asks, "How long do you intend to follow me?"
Hube explains that Conrad don't have to leave Yuuri's side and he would definitely be forgiven for what he's done. (lol Hube = ConYuu fanboy?) Conrad answers with a smile that it's because Yuuri is a kind person then his face turns serious again and warns Hube not to follow him any further.
Hube refuses and Conrad pulls out his sword and tells him that he will not return. Hube says he doesn't want to resort to violence but when he sees that Conrad is dead serious, he changed his mind and draws out his sword as well.
And Hube attacks..
the animation definitely improved, I think and we actually see them fighting and not just random flashes of light and swords flying out of nowhere. ^^"
Conrad seems hurt and Hube is distracted. Conrad takes the chance to disarm Hube and he tells him not to lose concentration during a fight. Someone's voice interrupts their fight and it turns out to be Yozak riding a horse. Yuuri, Murata and Wolfram arrives soon after.
Yozak tells him that Murata knew his plan from the very start. Conrad don't seem to care and turns around. Wolfram calls out his name (oooh he uses Conrad's name now ^^") and reminds him of his promise to Yuuri to return together to Shin Makoku and that he doesn't remember his brother being such an irresponsible man. Yuuri asks him again to come back with them but Conrad replies with "I'm sorry."
Yuuri demands to know why and tells him that he just need to explain properly to everyone. He asks if there was another reason. *cue falling star in the background*
But Conrad is silent. Yozak tells Conrad to stop being so stubborn already.
So, Conrad finally speaks up:
Conrad: The key and the box must not be in the same place. This is the best way. I will do whatever I can for you from afar.
Yuuri: I don't want something like that!
*Wolfram, Yozak and Murata looks on*
Yuuri: What do you mean, "from afar"? I didn't ask you to do something like that! You said you'd always be by my side, didn't you? (YEAH CONRAD, YOU DID SAY THAT. *SOB*) I like it better with you here. …Stay by my side.
Murata interrupts the emo and asked Conrad who restored his left arm since they already disposed of his severed arm before. Conrad clutches his arm while the omniscient Murata reveals that only Shinou can reattach his arm. Yuuri asks him if it was true and Conrad remembers what happened after that event. … I hate this flashback. Must we always be reminded of what happened to his arm -_-
Conrad: Beam me up Scottie! Ooooh shiny~ Am I in heaven? Shinou's hot! But.. What's this? Oh shit! It's a freaking floating arm! (RUN CONRAD, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE~)
It seems that Shinou asked him if Conrad will be able to abandon everything to create the world that Yuuri wished for. Of course, Conrad answered that he'll do everything, no matter what it was. Murata then explains that the arm that Conrad has now probably belonged to the head of the Weller family generations before whose arm was also a key to the box.
Great-great-great(?) Granpa Weller cut off his arm and threw it away. ...HOW MANY TIMES MUST WE SEE SEVERED ARMS FLYING/FLOATING IN THIS EPISODE? x_x
Yuuri approaches Conrad and touches his arm... *aww*
Conrad: I'm Shinou's bitch now. I'm sorry Yuuri, he IS hotter than you, you know.
Yuuri calls him an idiot for doing such things for his sake. Conrad explains that Shinou asked him to gather all four boxes but in order to do so, he had to betray Yuuri to gain Belal's trust. He says that he intended to bring the boxes back to Shin Makoku some day but since there is still one box missing, he still must search for that one too. Everyone is now smiling.
Yuuri: 2 heads = 4 eyes = good idea! :D
Yuuri tells him that he'll go with Conrad as well, so they'll find it faster. Wolfram says he's going to go with them too while Yozak and Hube are going
to tag along. Murata tells them they don't have to leave right at that moment and suggests that Yuuri consult Gwendal and his other allies. Then he explains that Shinou is seriously fickle because he has a right to be, he's a princess!! and tells them that he'll scold him firmly. Yuuri asks the obvious, "Could it be that you're the strongest among all of us?" to which Murata replies with a smile.
LOL Murata pwns everyone else. :D
They were interrupted again, however, as the Francshire troops caught up on them. Yuuri is worried that Conrad will be caught again. The soldiers surround them. Leila dismounts from her horse and delivers King Antoine's order, that is to secure Conrad.
Wolfram begins to pull out his sword but Yuuri stops him. Leila continues that after securing Sir Weller, he will be exiled from the country immediately. And that means, Conrad is free of blame! (yey!) Then, Leila tells Conrad to treasure the place where he belong and Conrad thanks her.
Then it's morning and we see Team Mazoku in a walkway floating on water.
Silly boy Conrad ^^"
Cheri-sama takes Conrad's face in her hands and calls him a silly boy. Wolfram reckons his mother should scold him more sternly or else, this "stubborn person" won't learn. ^^ Gwendal says that they will have to comply since it's Yuuri and Murata's will. Murata adds that they have to contact Ulrike as well for the official announcement.
Wolf says that Conrad is being spoiled by Cheri too much. Cheri interprets this as:
XD in the background, we hear Cheri asking if Gwendal wants "this" too. LOL that I have to see!!! XD
Conrad turns around to face Yuuri and Yuuri says that they should prepare to return to Shin Makoku. Murata goes mysterious again and says "It's about time we went back."
And he pushes Yuuri to the water...
And… they arrive safely through a fountain and Yuuri asks why Murata brought him back. Murata replies that it was Shinou who brought them back, not him so Yuuri should complain to him instead. Yuuri reminds him that he was supposed to speak sternly to Shinou. Murata says that he'll do it next time and reassures Yuuri that Conrad will be waiting for him when he goes back to Shin Makoku.
And here concludes Conrad's betrayal arc. ^_^
We finally see an end to the morbid flashback of severed arms, Conrad is back with all his limbs intact and everyone's happy. Thoughts on this episode?
- Murata saying he'll scold Shinou was just made of win. XD although, now that I think about it, how does Muraken communicate with Shinou? Do they have some kind of telepathic link? Does he have a two-way mirror like Harry Potter that he carries around in his pocket? What kind of power does he actually have? Is Muraken really an all-knowing hot geek of godly proportions that not even the great Shinou can resist him?
- I think it's really sweet when Dan Hiri Weller said that he calls out his wife's name because he likes the name Cecilia. <3 Why did Dan Hiri have to leave anyway? :( (but then if he didn't leave, Cheri had to see him die of old age *sad*) ...I wonder how Cheri thinks about/feels about her other husbands… their stories were never explored as much as Dan Hiri's. I don't even know what their names are ^^"
- Conrad is really stubborn. He had everyone going after him before he was convinced to stay by Yuuri's side. ^^ Poor Yozak, having a troublesome captain~ hahaha. Speaking of Yozak, he's everywhere! He's like Murata's other half who does all the manual labor ^^
- Oh and Wolfram acknowledged Conrad as his brother! And in front of everyone, too! XD This just makes me really happy. ^___^
- When Yuuri woke up, his first thought was to look for Conrad. *awww..* Conrad is definitely important to him but I think that he'll act in the same manner, if it's Wolfram or Gunter or anyone in Yuuri's harem who is in Conrad's position.
- Cheri's interactions with her sons were so sweet. ^___^ Conrad seems comfortable having his Mother so close to him and Wolfram was blushing! I wish I could see Gwendal being glomped by Cheri~ ^^
So there, I know it's kind of long ^^. I hope everyone likes it anyway, since this is also the last episode that I'm hosting. (I wish I can do more, maybe for the oav's? or as pinch hitter ^__^ ack *slaps self* I'm supposed to be in hiatus!^^")

Yuuri asks him if it was true and Conrad remembers what happened after that event. … I hate this flashback. Must we always be reminded of what happened to his arm -_-
Conrad: Beam me up Scottie! Ooooh shiny~ Am I in heaven? Shinou's hot! But.. What's this? Oh shit! It's a freaking floating arm! (RUN CONRAD, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE~)
It seems that Shinou asked him if Conrad will be able to abandon everything to create the world that Yuuri wished for. Of course, Conrad answered that he'll do everything, no matter what it was. Murata then explains that the arm that Conrad has now probably belonged to the head of the Weller family generations before whose arm was also a key to the box.
Great-great-great(?) Granpa Weller cut off his arm and threw it away. ...HOW MANY TIMES MUST WE SEE SEVERED ARMS FLYING/FLOATING IN THIS EPISODE? x_x
Yuuri approaches Conrad and touches his arm... *aww*
Conrad: I'm Shinou's bitch now. I'm sorry Yuuri, he IS hotter than you, you know.
Yuuri calls him an idiot for doing such things for his sake. Conrad explains that Shinou asked him to gather all four boxes but in order to do so, he had to betray Yuuri to gain Belal's trust. He says that he intended to bring the boxes back to Shin Makoku some day but since there is still one box missing, he still must search for that one too. Everyone is now smiling.
Yuuri: 2 heads = 4 eyes = good idea! :D
Yuuri tells him that he'll go with Conrad as well, so they'll find it faster. Wolfram says he's going to go with them too while Yozak and Hube are going
to tag along. Murata tells them they don't have to leave right at that moment and suggests that Yuuri consult Gwendal and his other allies. Then he explains that Shinou is seriously fickle because he has a right to be, he's a princess!! and tells them that he'll scold him firmly. Yuuri asks the obvious, "Could it be that you're the strongest among all of us?" to which Murata replies with a smile.
LOL Murata pwns everyone else. :D
They were interrupted again, however, as the Francshire troops caught up on them. Yuuri is worried that Conrad will be caught again. The soldiers surround them. Leila dismounts from her horse and delivers King Antoine's order, that is to secure Conrad.
Wolfram begins to pull out his sword but Yuuri stops him. Leila continues that after securing Sir Weller, he will be exiled from the country immediately. And that means, Conrad is free of blame! (yey!) Then, Leila tells Conrad to treasure the place where he belong and Conrad thanks her.
Then it's morning and we see Team Mazoku in a walkway floating on water.
Silly boy Conrad ^^"
Cheri-sama takes Conrad's face in her hands and calls him a silly boy. Wolfram reckons his mother should scold him more sternly or else, this "stubborn person" won't learn. ^^ Gwendal says that they will have to comply since it's Yuuri and Murata's will. Murata adds that they have to contact Ulrike as well for the official announcement.
Wolf says that Conrad is being spoiled by Cheri too much. Cheri interprets this as:
XD in the background, we hear Cheri asking if Gwendal wants "this" too. LOL that I have to see!!! XD
Conrad turns around to face Yuuri and Yuuri says that they should prepare to return to Shin Makoku. Murata goes mysterious again and says "It's about time we went back."
And he pushes Yuuri to the water...
And… they arrive safely through a fountain and Yuuri asks why Murata brought him back. Murata replies that it was Shinou who brought them back, not him so Yuuri should complain to him instead. Yuuri reminds him that he was supposed to speak sternly to Shinou. Murata says that he'll do it next time and reassures Yuuri that Conrad will be waiting for him when he goes back to Shin Makoku.
And here concludes Conrad's betrayal arc. ^_^
We finally see an end to the morbid flashback of severed arms, Conrad is back with all his limbs intact and everyone's happy. Thoughts on this episode?
- Murata saying he'll scold Shinou was just made of win. XD although, now that I think about it, how does Muraken communicate with Shinou? Do they have some kind of telepathic link? Does he have a two-way mirror like Harry Potter that he carries around in his pocket? What kind of power does he actually have? Is Muraken really an all-knowing hot geek of godly proportions that not even the great Shinou can resist him?
- I think it's really sweet when Dan Hiri Weller said that he calls out his wife's name because he likes the name Cecilia. <3 Why did Dan Hiri have to leave anyway? :( (but then if he didn't leave, Cheri had to see him die of old age *sad*) ...I wonder how Cheri thinks about/feels about her other husbands… their stories were never explored as much as Dan Hiri's. I don't even know what their names are ^^"
- Conrad is really stubborn. He had everyone going after him before he was convinced to stay by Yuuri's side. ^^ Poor Yozak, having a troublesome captain~ hahaha. Speaking of Yozak, he's everywhere! He's like Murata's other half who does all the manual labor ^^
- Oh and Wolfram acknowledged Conrad as his brother! And in front of everyone, too! XD This just makes me really happy. ^___^
- When Yuuri woke up, his first thought was to look for Conrad. *awww..* Conrad is definitely important to him but I think that he'll act in the same manner, if it's Wolfram or Gunter or anyone in Yuuri's harem who is in Conrad's position.
- Cheri's interactions with her sons were so sweet. ^___^ Conrad seems comfortable having his Mother so close to him and Wolfram was blushing! I wish I could see Gwendal being glomped by Cheri~ ^^
So there, I know it's kind of long ^^. I hope everyone likes it anyway, since this is also the last episode that I'm hosting. (I wish I can do more, maybe for the oav's? or as pinch hitter ^__^ ack *slaps self* I'm supposed to be in hiatus!^^")
