I have a propensity for taking TONS of screencaps. 168 for episode 32, a mere 54 for episode 74, 103 for episode 75, and 158 for this episode. And I have decided that waiting until the last minute to do each of these last three was actually a much better than idea than preparing each one a month in advance like I did with episode 32...

Episode 76
暗闇の中で
くらやみ の なかで
Inside the Darkness
This time we start, not with flashbacks, but the actual story itself. In the temple, Shinou looks at the captured Yuuri while speaking to Murata. "I have always believed that you would never betray me." "I did promise, after all." Yuuri opens his eyes as Shinou declares that everything is going as planned.
After speaking of Yuuri's usefulness as a new vessel for his soul, he enters Yuuri's unconsciousness, leaving Murata behind to watch over things.
After the title screen, we turn to Anissina's lab, where Greta and Cheri are looking over Wolfram. Anissina apparently has some sort of experiment she wants to perform, and it seems to require a body without a working heart, or something like that. Unfortunately for Anissina (and probably fortunately for Wolfram), the returned key flies through the window and enters Wolf's body. He awakens quite confused about just what the heck is going on. Can't really blame him for that, though...
When Anissina mentions that Yuuri must have succeeded in returning the keys, Wolfram asks about him, so we get a scene shift back to the area just outside the temple, where the others have been deposited. Conrad is the first to awaken, and immediately notices that his arm can move now. Gwendal also awakens and notices his returned eyesight. The other three come to, with Gunter wondering about Yuuri, but all that's there is Morgif. Conrad picks up the sword, and they all turn to look at the temple.
Scene shift again, this time to Shouri and Ulrike. Ulrike is trying to instruct him on using majutsu, and he forms the water into four small pillar-like things before the break apart. Ulrike declares it wonderful that he's been able to learn this much in such a short period of time. But Shouri knows that this is not good enough. He then apologizes for the outburst, saying that she's also having a hard time. She says it's fine, but before she can say more, they hear the sound of horses; the others have arrived, minus Yuuri and Murata.
Ulrike wants to run out and see what's gone wrong, but Shouri wants her to stay as they're in the middle of maryoku practice. Ulrike protests, but Shouri (showing more restraint than he has previously) knows that it's no good for him to go running out there right now.
The two stay in the room to continue practice, and we get a small shot outside where the others have arrived. Hube hugs Nikola and El, while Conrad and the others look rather down. Back with Shouri and Ulrike, they have just heard the news from a guard, and Shouri isn't too surprised and lists all the reasons why things have seemed far too strange for him. After their talk is finished, Shouri vows to come save Yuuri, and we get a scene switch.
The others are meeting, stating that they are no match for Shinou, his power is too great. Gwendal is shocked at Murata betraying them, while Conrad states that both the sun and the moon have been captured in the darkness. Josak asks what they should do next and Wolfram bursts into the room. Walking into the room, he falls, apparently from exhaustion. Cheri tells him that he should be resting, but he says there's no time for that; and he demands to know what has happened.
We scene shift to many different countries now; starting with Dai Shimaron, where a mindless King Belal is told that all 4 boxes have now been gathered in Shin Makoku. Some weird black holes open on the floor, and more of the doll-soldiers appear. In Caloria, as Flynn is looking out at the sea, a strange blackness sweeps across the water; also witnessed by Hyscliff. The blackness also appears creeping over castle walls, as King Antoine gets a report from Lyra. Doll-soldiers are seen marching across the land to attack.
We now turn to Yuuri, who has just awoken in his bed.
Going downstairs, he doesn't find his mother, but instead Shinou. Yuuri wonders what the hell is going on, and Shinou tells him they are inside Yuuri's heart.
After the break, we return to Wolfram, who has just been the news. He tries to run off, presumably to save Yuuri, but Gisela stops him. She asks him what he thinks he can accomplish and he collapses again. As Greta begins to cry, Anissina takes charge. She tells them that real men face their enemies face-on. Gunter protests that that is unreasonable. "Unreasonable or not, just hurry up and do it."
Later that night we see Hube walking down a corridor with Nikola chasing after him. Gwendal steps up and tells Hube to wait. "Please don't stop me. Heika allowed me to live. I'm prepared to sacrifice my life for Heika in his hour of need." "Fool. Do you think he'd be happy if you did something like that?" Gwendal tells him they're coming up with a plan to help Yuuri, and they will need Hube's help, so he shouldn't go rushing off right now.
Wolfram meanwhile is with Cheri, who apologizes for how things turned out. Wolfram says it's not her fault; it's his own fault for being weak. Greta wonders if Yuuri is alright. "Of course he's all right! He may be a wimp, but he gets the job done when it counts. Besides, there's no way that he'd leave behind his fiancé and cute daughter!" He hugs her and promises to get Yuuri back, no matter the cost.
We turn now to Conrad, who is looking at the paintings of Shinou and Daikenja. He wonders if everything had been a scheme from the very beginning, from Julia's death to him delivering her soul to Earth to Yuuri's birth. "Even my own existence was merely a pawn to serve your ambition..." He slams his fists against the walls and declares that he WILL save Yuuri. He starts to walk away when he hears a sword drawn behind and the sounds of something being slashed up. Turning around, he sees Josak standing at the paintings and sheathing his sword. The painting of Shinou falls in pieces, and Josak says that this isn't satisfying enough. "Not to mention, we still need to tell off Geika." The painting of Daikenja also breaks up and falls to the floor as the two walk off.
We see a short shot of Shouri and Ulrike as he forms the water into dragons that fly through the air. Then we turn to Gunter who is pouring over Erhard's diary. Gisela comes in to speak to him, and he asks about Wolfram. She tells him that Cheri is taking care of him. She asks what he's doing. "I remembered something Geika said before we left." **cue flashback to Murata talking about Erhard being over angry over what they had done, and that was no coincidence that Gunter found the diary just now** He thinks Murata might have been trying to tell him something.
He notices something in the diary, and calls the others in. Gwendal is worried about Wolfram being there, as Wolfram might run off after hearing this. But Wolfram is determined to save Yuuri, so Gwendal allows him to stay. Gunter explains that Erhard Wincott was a person who performed a lot of experiments, Wolfram points out that this is like Anissina, who states she would have liked to be able to speak to Erhard. One of the experiments involves activating the demon sword, Morgif. If they can activate Morgif's true form and get him to Yuuri, Yuuri may be able to defeat Shinou. It's a risk, but there is probably no other way. Gwendal asks how they're supposed to raise Morgif's power, and Gunter answers that Morgif must be thrown into the volcano he was created at Mount Doom the volcano on Bandarbia.
Scene switch to Adalbert and his followers fighting off the doll-soldiers. Adalbert doesn't know what's going on, but they'll fight the things off none-the-less.
We turn next to the harbor, where Dacascos and Gunter will be taking Anissina's improved banana boat Super-Super HighSpeed Evil Fast-kun MK-II to Bandarbia; whose maryoku has been supplied by both Gwendal AND Hube. XD
We end with Yuuri and Shinou. They discuss how Shinou ended up inside Yuuri's heart, and Yuuri demands that Shinou get out. Shinou is impressed that someone other than Daikenja is speaking up to him this much. This reminds Yuuri of what Murata did. Shinou asks Yuuri if he wants to hear why he chose Yuuri to be Maou, and inside the temple Murata notices Yuuri's hand moving. "So it has begun. When you next awaken, the fate of the world will be decided." He looks up, wondering if the others will make it in time.
**End of episode**
I have to agree with Yuuri that Shinou doesn't fit well inside a typical Japanese house. Or any non-castle or battlefield environment for that matter.
It's interesting that Gunter, despite the betrayal of Murata, thought that he had been given a clue and followed it. You have to wonder why Gunter decided to trust that there was a clue in Murata's words, as well as this plan of action not back-firing on them. If they don't get back in time, Yuuri will have been taken over by Shinou, and they may have given Shinou a very powerful tool in a souped-up Morgif.
Well, next episode we'll get the answer to the question Shinou introduced, as well as seeing what happens with Morgif, and whether Shinou can succeed in taking over Yuuri.
