Stinky hot....

Ok... too hot. Just too hot. Ceiling fans on, cross breeze going, and it's still stinky hot. I'm definitely taking an ice block to bed. (no comments from the peanut gallery on that one!)

How is everyone else coping with this weather?

When gerimaple and I were married, we used some of the wedding present gift certificates to buy ceiling fans. When the weather like this, we're very glad that we did so, they really make a difference. Other than that, I'm out on the deck as much as I can be (thank Darwin for laptops and wireless net connectivity!), cooking on the barbecue and generally enjoying the decent weather. I'm one of the rare folks who actually enjoys these temperatures and the bedroom ceiling fan allows me to sleep comfortably.

I got one of those cheap hammock-on-a-stands from my grocery store. Yesterday I tried it just after sunset.

I discovered why Calgary is so enamoured with fire pits. If you don't have smoke running, then you don't stay outdoors after sunset. Vancouver doesn't know how lucky they are on the mosquito front.

Coming from Winnipeg, I'm intimately acquainted with the little buggers. I was astonished when I moved to B.C. in 1980 that there are no bugs! That was a very pleasant surprise.

However, that seems to be changing. We've had mosquitoes for the past two summers. Nowhere near as bad as Wpg., mind you, but annoying nontheless.

Damned skeeters! klashville July 26 2006, 01:00:40 UTC
Hate to differ with you there... but Vancouver has got skeeters. And they love me. Granted, they aren't the size of crows like in Winnipeg, but I've seem some approaching hummingbird size!
