I hope to god he's right. Because once freedom is voted out, it's very difficult to get it back. No matter who is in office.

I already voted, so I'm wondering if the "Do you want freedom (circle one)" question was maybe on the back of the ballot? I certainly think I'd remember voting to get rid of freedom...

Every time you cede additional power to the central government, you chip away a bit of your freedom.

I didn't vote for anyone with a socialist agenda. Can you be so certain?

Well stated. It is "change" tempered with the wisdom of the past that I prefer.

Change too fast, and you evolve out of your niche and die, but fail to change enough and you get the same result.

A thoughtful balanced approach is usually the best choice.

That was awesome! Thanks for the ray of sunshine; I needed it. Actually, I kind of laugh when I think about what the candidates say in their speeches and commercials. If you read the Constitution, you realize that no President has the kind of power to deliver on those sorts of promises. And America seems to rock on either way.

You were, in fact, the one person I was hoping to cheer up a little bit with that post. Everyone else on my FList is either a) ecstatic that they're getting free puppies, or b) is too far gone into the realm of OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE OF SOCIALISM AND TERRORISM to accept that there's any possibility for moderate change and hope for the future. Glad you liked it.

I still am concerned about Obama socialist agenga, but the people of America are smart. They will cry fowl if they feel they are being taken advantage of...at least the one's who have read Marx/Engels will. Thank God for that History of Political Thought Class I took.

So, how are you?

I think all conservatives are concerned about Obama's socialist-leaning tendencies, and that's as it should be. I think we should rightfully fear Marx and Lenin (Groucho and John?), just as we should fear Ayn Rand and Ron Paul on the far far right... and luckily, our political system is set up in such a way as to maintain something resembling equilibrium ( ... )

Very few people in America would argue that a free system of public education erodes our personal freedoms, yet when you replace "education" with "health care," suddenly we're signing away the Constitution.

it is not "free". it's simply that someone else has to pay for it.

I simply wish everyone who wants "free" everything would understand that it never is.
