I have this new exercise device thingy called Fluidity (look it up if you're interested). My mom got it so I can practice ballet (exercise type A) but I've been watching the workout videos too and there are some good moves on there, one of which is a pull up done like a upside down push up. it's good but I also mourn the lack of good ol' fashioned pull bars. because yes we are still monkeys.

that's a cool looking bar! although the dancer on the webpage kind of freaks me out 0_o

if you can do a pullup on it you're better off than i am ;) And i bet keeping a straight spine (like plank pose) while doing it is great work too :)

our inner monkeys yearn to be freeeee

HEY DUDE.

I went dancing last weekend for the first time (...and the first legitimate workout...) in a long time and it was amazing but I was dying! All the Lindy hop kids are hard enough to follow on slow songs, let alone these fast endurance marathons =P

...are you back in Virginia, then? What's your status? Your journal is my only window into your world!

yes! i am back in virginia, and i have a lot of thoughts about that that i'll try and put down here soon. Thanks :)

If you want to try one of the slower ones, go waltzing! So much fun.

My lindy is terrible and needs lots of work, so i haven't been swing dancing cuz it seems like that's all the kids do these days. sad :(

Yay crossfit! I skipped Grace today, though last time I did it with 85 lbs. I'm very impressed with your Cindy score. :P I'm relatively good at lifts and suck at body weight stuff. By freestanding do you mean not against a wall, just balancing? Crazy!

grace tore me up :( I moved to the scaled 100# and it took 12:00. *sob*. Especially cuz i was still sore from Cindy. I am clearly the reverse: I've only practiced bodyweight stuff and usually lack the mass to do absolute things. Also, my lifting form is terrible. I accidentally did a terrible jerk or two in the middle that ended up with too much 'press'ing and they totally hosed my arms.

Yeah, that's what i mean by freestanding :) It might take two years, and i'm practicing my handstands every other day or so. i think i'm only a few months from a wall-supported HSPU. If i can pick up the Capoeira again it should help. Still a very pie-in-the-sky goal, though.
