Pairing: Heechul/Ryewook & Heechul/Hankyung !!Friendship
Genre: Angst/Food
Rating: G
Summary: Ryeowook  tries to make something to eat for his hyung, but Heechul can't move on.

"You've gotten thin lately."

"You are one to talk, hyung," Ryeowook replies sharply from over the stove. He is cooking rice, out of the demand from his hyung, because somehow he felt like it was the only thing he could do for his hyung at the moment.

Heechul just let out of soft 'tsk', and leaned on the counter to watch as the younger boy stirred the rice. He inhaled the familiar scent, and with it brought many memories. He could see him. His back was turned, and his hair still mussed with sleep. He had gotten up early just to make them something to eat. This was just one of the many things he loved about him. He wouldn't notice Heechul's presence for several minutes, not until he would turn off the stove and go to set up the table. As he sets down two bowls, he glances up with that casual grin of his. And so Heechul will give him an off hand comment about his just-got-out-of-bed appearance before sitting down to enjoy his breakfast.

"Breakfast is ready, hyung," a voice called, very un-Hankyung like. Not unpleasant, but it wasn't the voice he had imagined. "Hyung?" the voice asked nervously, and so he peeked out to find Ryeowook looking worriedly at him. Another look he was so used to these days, those of hesitation, fear, and anticipation of him completely shattering.

He cracked a smile, and hastily grabbed a bowl of rice. Taking a bite, he closed his eyes and chewed quietly. It was good, almost perfect Bejing rice. But it didn't taste like him. It didn't taste like Hankyung. When he opened his eyes again, he saw Ryeowook looking hopefully at him. "It is good."

And somehow, perhaps that sixth sense about food that the group jokes Ryeowook has, he knows he is lying. The younger man looks sharply at him, "I'll just make it again then." Just like that, he is pulling out a fresh pan and warming up the stove again. For some reason Heechul doesn't argue with him. Maybe because there is no point to, Ryeowook is very stubborn when it comes to food. But the next bowl of his rice will taste the same because he isn't Hankyung, and he knows it. So why is he hoping it will?

The next bowl tastes the same, and the next after that. However, Ryeowook still looks determined as he hands over the fourth bowl. A few moments later, he adds a fourth pan to the sink. "Just stop already, the first few were fine," Heechul begins, trying to stop the younger man from digging out another pan.

As he reaches for the final clean pan, some pots spill out, making a loud clatter. "How can I?" he asks angrily shoving the pots back in, "you don't want to eat anything," his voice hesitated for a moment, as if it were now a reflex, "anything but Hankyung's rice."

Heechul remains silent as Ryeowook finally retrieves the fifth pan, and sets it on the stove to begin cooking. What should he say? Everyone tiptoes around him lately, and treats Hankyung's name like some curse. He was sick of it. If he was so sick of it, then why he was still fixated on it. He knew Ryeowook was right.. He refused to not only to eat, but to do anything. "Hey, Ryeowook," you call calmly, but he still looks uncertain as he turns around, "make me something new."

His face turns from uncertainty to pure shock. "What?" he asks in disbelief, as if he had heard what Heechul had said so clearly wrong.

"Make me something different. Anything."

It's ramen Ryeowook serves. His 'special ramen' as he puts it. He looks uncertain as he hands it to Heechul who looks almost uncertain himself. The older man wearily takes a bite, and closes his eyes as he chews. He doesn't just see Hankyung. He sees Ryeowook hovering over the stove to make him something to eat, he can see Leeteuk asking him to go out shopping with him, he can see Kyuhyun demanding he play Starcraft with him because he hasn't in a while, he can see Donghae smiling and asking if he'd like to go play soccer, he can see Shindong offering to take him out to lunch, he can see Eunhyuk asking him to pleading him to come out from his room and hear his sniffled crying, he can see Siwon dragging him into a hug and giving him an understanding look of the same loss, he can see Sungmin carefully bringing him to his room when he was too drunk to speak, he can see Yesung telling him things he doesn't care to hear, he can see Kibum with that settle smile of his asking out he has been doing, he can see Kangin by his side cracking a joke or two, and he can see Hangeng just smiling. He can see Super Junior.

"Is it good?"

"Yes, yes it is." He replies honestly. Heechul could really get used to this taste.
