Heath Ledger turns gay cowboy in 'Brokeback Mountain'
Sydney, Feb 3 (ANI): Heath Ledger is all set to don the role of a gay cowboy in a movie rumoured to have some steamy sex scenes.
According to an Australian press report, the Aussie heart-throb has been confirmed to star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the screen adaptation of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annie Proulx's short story, "Brokeback Mountain".
The film narrates the tale of two sheepherding cowboys, Ennis Del Mar, to be played by Ledger and Jack Twist, enacted by Gyllenhaal and is set in Wyoming in 1963.
The pair happen to fall into a tempestuous love affair and manage to strike a relationship that lasts for the rest of their lives. The film traverses their secret love affair spanning 20 years, during which time they both marry women and have children.
Although Hollywood stars have played gay roles in mainstream films, Brokeback Mountain has got movie buffs and social commentators talking big time. Partly so, because it will be the first time a mainstream Hollywood film features explicit gay love scenes.
Ang Lee, the man behind "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," "The Ice Storm", and "The Hulk" is expected to wield the directorial baton mid year. (ANI)
