[Well, Lyn hadn't really seen the need to resist the urge to try a little of the candy corn in the basement - although immediately after doing so, he spat it out. What the hell was in that fucking candy? Goddamn Mayfield and its messing around with stuff...does milk go in candy corn? He hadn't considered that but would not be the least bit ( Read more... )

[In swoops the Psionic Warrior or whatever the heck Lucas is calling himself now.]

Are you lost, boy? Don't worry! One of the many talents of the PSIthe of Justice is an unerring sense of direction!

[Lyn flinches momentarily, then pauses, cocking his head. His tail wags a bit.]

Aw, it's alright! Don't worry about a thing! The Psionic PSIfer won't let you down.

[Lucas beams and makes to scoop up the poor little doggy.]

[Lyn wiggles rather impossibly at this; it's clear he's not a fan of being picked up like this. :| Lucas will have a tough time holding onto him...although if Lyn gets free, he'll shake himself off rather indignantly, but not actually run away. He seems to be willing to stick with Lucas, but not to be carried around.]

...There's a dog in the yard.

[The statement is one of very mild acknowledgment; there are dogs everywhere, of course, but drones tend to keep them leashed.]

[Said dog looks up at Legault when he speaks. Despite the fact that it's clearly a timid animal, his tail starts wagging when he sees the man.]

[...Interesting. So, a tame dog that's... running around outside for some reason. He approaches, curiously.]

Lost?

[Because dogs can answer.]

[Lyn shakes his head. Which, on a dog, looks kind of like he's just shaking himself off, but hopefully the sentiment still carries over.]

[ Claudia's a new arrival and has had a pretty bad first day. So seeing a cute dog is great stress relief.

She approaches the dog slowly, holding out her hand. ]

Hey. At least the dogs here are normal, right, boy?

[The dog gives her what is possibly the most skeptical look a canine has ever worn. However, he does gingerly lean forward to sniff her hand, clearly deciding whether or not she's safe.]

Don't worry, I won't hurt you. I just need some sane company for a bit. [ She waits to see if the dog is okay with her petting it. ]

[This sentiment meets with Lyn's full approval, and earns a slight tail wag. He even stands still long enough to let her pet him, although it's clear that he's mostly just tolerating it.]

[Holy eff, so many fluffity dogs these days in Mayfield. Ren's much more of a cat person, but with all the pups running around, do you know who has a bunch of treats in his pockets now?

It's this kid. And this particular mutt is a heart-breaker of a sweet face, so he'll be pulling one out as a peace offering.]

[Kicked puppy attitude or not, Lyn's ears go up when he catches wind of a treat. He sniffs inquisitively and edges slowly closer, giving Ren furtive looks the whole time.]

[Oh jeebees could this be more precious Ren thinks not. Ren isn't tall, but drops to a knee anyway; skitterish dogs are like skitterish people, right? The treat is offered nice and easy on an open palm, accompanied by a soft (hopefully reassuring) click of the tongue.]

[At the tongue click, Lyn pauses where he is - not out of fright, but to give Ren a long, level, "are you actually serious" look that no dog should really able to manage. He may be a small scruffy dog at the moment but Lyn does not respond to cutesy noises.

...he does edge just close enough to take the treat regardless, though. Because principles are one thing and treats are another, far more delicious thing. He circles a few steps away to eat it, giving Ren a look the whole time very much to the effect that this is not a Disney moment they are having here, no sir. This is a dog crunching a treat and you will respect that.]
