Well rescuing her put him in a fair amount of trouble, so they were kind of stuck, but I don't think Lee would have had it any other way. I mean, he's lost practically everything else and then he gets Kara back; I'd say he'd stick pretty close.
Thanks! Starbuck as a cylon is pretty fascinating, because even if she isn't, everyone in the fleet is going to assume she is. So there's the whole issue of how desperate you have to be to trust a cylon to get you to earth. You have to weigh the odds of it being a trap against the odds of the cylons beating you there. Tough call.
It always takes me a little while to get into the rhythm of first person fics, but I eventually did and enjoyed this a lot. I particularly liked the ending and the idea of them going off in a small ship, leaving breadcrumbs for the Fleet to follow.
Writing first person Kara was a bit intimidating, but I've been wanting to try it for a while. I think that first person can be a neat way of translating BSG's gritty, documentary style cinematography to prose, but it is hard to do well. And I'm glad you like the ending. I was initially hesitant to write season four speculation, because it can be so open-ended, but once I thought of this possibility, of Lee and Kara just sailing off into the sunset, it all fell together.

And believe it or not, I really like the whole idea of Starbuck being a Cylon. Is that weird? :p
