The train just started it's short trip back to Seattle WA from Portland OR. I shall miss this city. It is so vibrant, different, weird, extraordinary, and fun. 1. North America's biggest bookstore.
2. Shopping (no sales tax)
3. Lots of oyster bars
4. VoodDoo Doughnuts (a must experience)
5. Rent a car and take a trip east down the Columbia Gorge. There is a lot of hiking (esp. Beacon Rock), waterfalls, windsurfing @ Hood River, etc.
6. Rent a car and take a trip west to the coast, lots of sight seeing, surfing (apparently), oysters, etc.
7. There is a very long waterfront in Portland for walking/biking.
8. People are very friendly, the city has a lot of character.
9. There is a fun zoo, gardens, parks.
10. Portland also has a lot of festivals, I'd check out what is going on before you go, there seems to also be a lot of streets fairs going on during the weekends too.
