Internet, I love you!

At the behest of MTM, I post. Today is much like the other month or so that I have been here. No job and little prospect as I can't seem to anyone to bite on my dusty old resume. I need to post materials on a website, that is, make an online portfolio. I actually tried this last week with some bargain basement site creation company. After spending ( Read more... )

Normally I am one to shy away from things large and corporate, but I would recommend you try Yahoo web hosting. If you do not already have a Yahoo ID, get one and then follow that link.

It's surprisingly affordable, they save you the trouble of registering a domain name and then having to wait and then having to set DNS servers to the point to the new name and blah-blah-blah. The whole process is fast, painless, and very very reasonable in price.

When I recently found myself needing to quickly regurgitate a website (seeing as how my old thamusdesign.com is now defunct) I went to Yahoo and in about 20 mins - maybe less - I had the new thamusdesign.net up and running.

I think they even provide easy tools and templates for making sites and uploading them, though I have not used them.

Good luck... let me know what you end up with!

It's who I put my site up with. How's that for a really poorly constructed sentence?

and with the small business option (9.95 a month) It will even support perl and sql and so forth. Witness the glory:

Quite good. I got lots of new connections, and am now friends with game recruiters everywhere. I ran into Lorne Lanning who was smiling for the first time ever, that I've seen. I asked him why and he said "Cuz I don't work in Games anymore". That about says it.

OH great sir, why for you have not named the ISP that caused you so much pain. It sounds like a "Sitepuppy" sort of issue. I've got a few domains from Godaddy.com and have been rather happy. I don't always use them for hosting though so I can't comment there. If your tired of dealing with the big and nasty's , I agree with Mr. DNA, Yahoo should do the trick. Although another big boy, they make it so easy, even a Jerry B could do it.. well maybe. OH I saw him at a garden show on the UT campus. He had his big ole giant gardeners hat on and he couldn't find your mom.. it was funny... I wonder if she ditched him... heheh..

I also have a ton of sights that just give away templates. Maybe a good way for you to dip into it. I'm sure you'll eventually want to design your own sight, but that is way beyond my skill at this point...

Oh, mom managed to cancel the norton antivirus software the other day, that or it ran out on the horrible NetZero account. I think he had on a CA lifeguard hat, maybe not, I got him a great one years ago, but he never weats it.
