Well, just heard from the doctors office. Guess what, I'm perfectly fine. My triglycerides are slightly elevated and my cholesterol is a little higher than normal but not too bad considering my weight. Nothing...not one damn thing is wrong with me. So why am I bawling? Because I'm still not losing weight even though I'm eating responsibly and ( Read more... )

Losing weight is hard for so many people, and there's no reason you should feel bad about yourself if you're one of them. I'm relieved to hear that you're generally healthy, and that you will probably get even more healthy with your diet and exercise. Hopefully, you and your doctor will get to the bottom of all this before long. Just, please don't give up. And don't keep comparing yourself to those liars on TV. You can and you will make progress, even if it takes some time. And I might be overstepping some boundaries here, but don't listen to your father, either. He obviously didn't know what he was talking about! Good luck, okay? :)

Hey...chin up. The only way anyone ever loses 24 pounds in one hour is if they got lipo...and those commercials are a bunch of crap. How long has it been since you started eating well and exercising? Just remember that this takes time...and thank God that the doc couldn't find any health problems with you. With the exception of some extra weight, you're healthy!

correction, disease speaking I'm healthy. The doctor himself feels quite strongly (as do I) that there is a strong possibility of some sort of syndrome or something "flying under the radar" with my thyroid. I've been doing this for over a month and I haven't lost anything, but gained. That's not normal or healthy by any stretch of the imagination. Good news is,my cholesterol has gone down considerably and I don't even have any signs of pre-diabetes. I may be insulin resistant in some other way though, which is the reason for the endochrinologist. People don't just go to see specialists for nothing. I should know, I seem to have my own team now. blah

Gotcha...I seemed to have been missing some information on that. Well...keep your chin up and let me know if I can do anything to help!

Yeah, my bitchy, "the world sucks and why can't I just eat oreo's all day" posts rarely have all the pertinent information. Gotta love emotional posts, LOL. Right now I'm just trying to get through the next few weeks until my appointment with the endochrinologist (I'm getting really sick of typing that word, I think I'm gonna rename her the hormone doctor, LOL).

No, your dad is a worthless boob...NOT YOU! Believe me, it is difficult to lose weight--especially if you are insulin resistant in some way. Keep your chin up, sweetie.

Thanks sweetie. Since this post I have done a bit of research about insulin resistance, but I know you a wealth of information, espcially about stuff like that, so I would love to know what you would like to share.
