I asked Helen, Chaz's good friend who happens to be an NHS doctor, to check with a teaching hospital in the UK that has tested using a leukemia treatment to cure MS. Wow, that's amazing. GM's brother underwent a similar nuke-it-from-orbit then regrow-from-clean-cells chemotherapy in a last ditch effort to cure his leukemia. Looks like science has gotten better on the regrowth part in the past few years. :)

It's the leukemia chemo. I'm in better shape than most leukemia patients, though, since MS is just a slow paralysis (which eventually leads to death, just...slowly). I've heard the science is better on the liver toxicity front, though.

Nothing quite like the treatments that amount to, "Jump off this cliff and you may grow wings before you hit the valley floor." And yet...we really do live in a science-fictional world with regard to medicine. (*turns back to day job involving industrial production of biologicals that have been edited at the molecular level*)
