The *real* reason for the shutdown

On my way into work a few days ago, I was thinking about all this mess with the govt. shutdown and the intransigence of the Hard Right over the Affordable Healthcare Act (aka, ObamaCare). Well put. I totally agree. Now if only the blind Republicans are buying the tea party's BS would see it this way and stop blaming Obama we would be able to end this farce and move forward.

Well said -- I hadn't thought of it that way, but it makes perfect sense (I figured there was heavy lobbying by the insurance companies to keep their fat profits and stranglehold over the industry causing much of the chaos). This makes much more sense though. I believe I read somewhere that in countries with socialized medicine that job satisfaction tends to be better than it is here, but I think that was more correlative (don't think it had any solid statistics). But that would make sense if health insurance weren't the leveraging point forcing people to continue in jobs they hate - it is a significant bargaining chip.
