I seem to be spending more time bending down to pick up my hula-hoop than I do spinning it around my hips. SR seems to be getting a better hang of things than I and I'm starting to get discouraged and frustrated.

how big is your hoop? 1.5lbs and 42 inches is the adult standards, but bigger is easier-if i had started out with a bigger in diameter adult hoop, i would have learned a lot faster, so try a bigger one-44 or even 46 inches in diameter. check your posture. basic waist hooping forward stance-knees bent, pelvis tucked, head and chest up. move your body in a straight line front and back. side stance, same thing but one foot next to the other (hip width) instead of one in front, knees bent, pelvis tucked, head and chest up. still a straight line, but this time it's a straight line side to side (shift shift).

make sure you are bring your arm across your waist and "giving yourself a hug" when you start your hoop. give it a nice fast push around-you should get a few rotations just from your initial push.
