I heard a radio interview with economist Tyler Cowen in which he explained that Americans have become too risk averse. We're unwilling to move to where the jobs are. This is a really revealing blog post. It has to be hard to be so honest and open about your life. I suppose that this is part of the dilemma of modern self-promotion through social media. You surround yourselves with "friends" you've never met and reveal the sorts of deep, dark secrets that you'd have a hard time talking about with your closest intimates. In a sense, to sell a podcast you have to engage in an emotional strip-tease. Cue in the appropriate music ( ... )
