Oh wow. I remember QN from the Dopecast. He was truly a fascinating character. I'm sad that he was struggling - I wonder if he died from a relapse overdose, or just.. had worn his body out. Coming from Appalachia, at the center of the opioid epidemic, I've become rather accustomed to hearing of people dying far younger than the norm, and not always from ODing - sometimes they are just so prematurely aged that any little thing just strikes them down. It's really sad.
In re the Dopecast, I haven't listened to anything from that whole genre in years now. I think I stopped right around the time Lorenzo was dropping away from doing the Salon regularly. Now I think I need to go back and see whatever has happened to some of those people.
FYI, there's a small but grounded community over on Dreamwidth, mostly of folks who migrated over from here/LJ after the RU takeover. I'm rarely on LJ anymore, but I keep my account active just so I can catch posts like this.
I really hate that you can use the phrase "relapse overdose" and that I know exactly what you're talking about in an instant, no explanation required.
I don't know if Queer Ninja OD'd or just died. To me, it makes no difference.
He seemed to suffer from depression or similar psychic burden the entire time that I knew him. When he was happy, he shared his joy with those around him, and through podcasting, with people who would never meet him in person. When he was suffering, he would withdraw and suffer in solitude. At least that's the impression I formed from my vantage point on the other side of the Atlantic.

Thank you for sharing this KMO, I too had lost contact with QN. But during that time, he's always had a special place in my heart ♥

PS- glad to see you're still around. I had not seen a post from you in some time.
