I miss MJ, but, not like I expected I would. When James Brown died, I was sad for weeks and dumb-struck. I couldn't believe he had actually died. A large part of me thought he was immortal. After "I'm black and I'm proud" and the crack problems and the concerts at the rodeos, how could he really have been mortal

Maybe because Jackson had musically dropped from public view for so long, but Brown had never really left?

This was one of those moments that for me came as close to a "I didn't know he was still alive" reaction while recognizing that I knew he was still alive.
