Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Near the end of the movie, Cameron smashes up his father's car, then says he'll take the heat for it.

I want to know, whatever happened after that?  Did the father and Cameron have a coming-to-peace moment, or did the old man cut Cameron out of his will?

This is a real big unanswered question.
