Personality:
One thing that has always been said about Sonic, and this is especially prevalent in Sonic and the Black Knight, is that he's like the wind. He goes where he pleases, "where the wind takes him", with no particular aim or goal in mind at the end of it all (unless someone's causing trouble, but we'll get to that in a minute) except to keep moving. He lives life as an adventure, and does his best to not let anything get him down. He does what he wants, when he wants, and he doesn't let anything get in his way. The fact that he's blessed with the speed, ability, and attitude to go about these things is just sheer luck, really. It also might have something to do with the fact that he's an iconic video game mascot, but then again, that probably has nothing to do with it.
Despite the fact that he does what he pleases, the fact is, a lot of the time people will get in his way - most notably his arch-nemesis, the "fearsome" Dr. Eggman. Ultimately, though, it doesn't matter who it is. If someone's in his way, if someone's causing trouble, hurting someone, or doing a wrong that he wants to right, then Sonic will step in and do what he can to fix things. Despite an entire series' worth of heroism, however, Sonic doesn't really view himself as any kind of hero, despite his own occasional pride saying otherwise, he said it best in his battle against the Dark Queen: "It was never about chivalry for me... I just gotta do what I gotta do!" Earlier, he even admits he's "fine with being the bad guy for once" so long as it set things straight. He does what he pleases, goes where he wants, and if that means he happens to save the world a few dozen times along the way, he knows he'll also probably he having a damn good time doing it too, and that matters as much to Sonic almost as much as doing the right thing, honestly.
Despite his easy-going, drifting attitude, thanks to his natural speed and knack for adventure, Sonic also happens to be quite a thrill seeker. Sometimess he won't make the brightest decision, or he'll choose the long, hard route over the short and easy one, if it means he can have more fun and get more blood pumping while doing it On the... complete flipside, however, his hobbies include being a DJ, reading (he's at least known for having books about the Arabian Knights and King Arthur just lying around... wherever he lives), and, back to the usual, running. But it does show that, if he feels like it, he can take a break from the adrenaline rush to do something else for a little while.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Despite his big mouth and attitude, he does have a good sense of what's right and wrong, and even though he usually does what he feels like... more often than not, that happens to be the right thing.
+ He's loyal to his friends almost to a fault - sure, he'll spend most of his days running on his own, being alone, but when they need him, he... might be there (depending on which one, some of them CAN handle themselves, and he's well aware of that), and more to the point, despite that Amy downright terrifies him sometimes, he's still there for her when she needs him to be... most of the time.
+ He sees good in just about everything. World's going to end? Okay, saving it might be fun! The planet got broken into pieces? Hey, gives me a reason to go on vacation and explore it all while I'm putting it back together! He doesn't hold grudges, and despite the mocking and taunting, he doesn't even hate Eggman - they've worked together on occasion, even.
+ He's strong of heart and will, and that in itself is a strength. Even faced with the prospect of death, he'll still keep fighting for what he believes in or to defend the weak and all of that. Sonic's a good guy and a hero, through and through.
- The weakness Sonic is most known for is his aquaphobia, mostly due to the fact that he can't swim, he just... hates the water. Simple as that. Won't stop him from running OVER it, mind you, but no way in hell will he go in the stuff.
- ... He can't stand still. Not even to save his life. He's very impatient, and he always needs to be moving. Even in his early days as the silent character running across various stages to get to Eggman, when you stop moving for too long, he'll get impatient, tap his foot, and even "yell" at the player to keep moving. This holds true even now.
- Sonic loves adventure! Sonic loves thrills! Sonic loves going very fast! ....... Can you not see how this can end badly for someone or do I need to go into detail?
- He has a big mouth, and he loves to let it run wild, just like his feet - in both cases, this applies to another weakness: often, he'll act before he thinks, and while a lot of the time this does actually end up well for him, other times... not so much.

First Person Sample:
[As the video feed starts, there's nothing but white - at least, visually. Perhaps this is some new form of audio? Because as far as sounds go, there's some panting mixed with out of breath chuckles and laughs, and then finally a voice.]
... Awesome! What a workout! I guess this body is good for something after all. I'll have to see what else it can do after I recharge. Whew! You okay, Calibird?
[In response to the question, there's a squawk of some kind that sounds almost... indignant? It seems like the speaking voice takes it as being that, in any case, because they respond like it was.]
Aw, come on, you're no fun. That was a blast! We'll definitely have to do some more city-to-city jogs like that. I'm just glad to know that I can still do a little in a big, slow body like this. [a thoughtful pause] Man, how does Eggman do it? I'll have to ask him the next time I'm kicking his butt-- [The voice is interrupted by another sound, again of avian origin, this one sounds almost angry, insulted perhaps.] Oh, don't look at me like that! The big guy deserves it, really!
[The following sound can only be described as the Skarmory equivalent of a "Hmph!". Apparently deciding that the conversation is over, the first voice sighs and then, suddenly the image of white is replace of one of the world! A spinning world, mind you, and those who are prone to vommiting best look away, because our protagonist has tossed the PokeGear into the air and it is now spinning-- Until it's being caught, and a somewhat sweaty, grinning face greets the viewers eagerly.]
So it's on after all! [he shoots a quick glance at the Skarmory behind him, who looks for all the world like it wants nothing to do with such a hooligan.] Told you I could do it. [at which point, grin quickly returning, he turns back to the camera and nods towards it - presumably towards those who have been watching.]
Okay guys, I know most of you are probably out here asking about where to go and all of that, but don't worry about this hedgehog, this happens to me all the time. I'll figure that out on my own! Nope, there's only one thing I need to know...
[as he trails off, his expression sobers - just a little bit. barely noticable, really, but it's enough, because then he continues, most just wonder what is wrong with him.]
Where can a guy get a chilli dog around here?
Third Person Sample:
Sonic sighed as he walked away from his "mother's" house, a noticable scowl on his face. He'd barely had enough time to get used to his new body (and it didn't seem to be nearly as useful as some of the other ones he'd had over his adventures; the fearsome nocturnal form he'd used to fight the Dark Gaia came to mind immediately) before he'd been tossed out of the house, given a partner in a ball (the heck was that supposed to mean anyway?), and told he had to go on an adventure. And normally, he was fine with this kind of thing.
The fact of the matter was, this kind of thing? It happened to him all the time. He'd just gotten back from one such adventure as it happened.
So one might ask - why the scowl?
It was because he was going so slow. It was almost torture for the poor hedgehog to be moving at this pace, and with all the years of running he had under his belt, he knew that this body wouldn't be able to move nearly as fast at its best. He'd rather have to go on a date with Amy than be trapped in some horrible, slowpoke body like this!
... Okay, no, maybe he'd have to think a little more about that one.
His thoughts were soon interrupted as the people around him began to talk less and less, and the background music suddenly became more clear. He grinned sardonically, shaking his head as the tune slowly began to imprint itself on his mind. At the very least, it seemed like his adventure, whatever kind of adventure he could have like this, would come complete with background music.
"Might as well see what kind of partner I've got here," Sonic said thoughtfully after a few moments. Though he already felt like he was stuck in a ball, his partner, whoever (or whatever, he mused with a small grin, as Caliburn came to mind) it was. That in mind, Sonic tossed the ball once in the air and, catching it, wound up a good throw and threw it to the ground to unleash whatever was sealed inside.
Hey, just because he was having an out of body experience didn't mean he still couldn't have style, right?
His thoughts soon faded, though, as the light that was letting out his partner-to-be did. And in the light's place stood a... sword? Sonic blinked a few times as the sword creature started stretching. No wait, a bird? A sword bird!
"Yeah, a sword bird!" he exclaimed, stepping back, as if this realization surprised him, and pointing at it almost dramatically. At that reaction, the bird blinked at him and then... turned away, ruffling its metalic feathers. Was it... Had he actually offended it? Grinning, with just a few laughs behind the grin, Sonic approached the bird and gave it a friendly pat. "Hey there! Sorry about that, I wasn't expecting a-- Hey, hold up!"
The bird didn't seem to care about Sonic's attempt at a greeting, instead, it just began walking with increasing speed towards the exist of the town, as if it was ignoring him altogether. Luckily, the sun was shining brightly, and the swords that were its feathers were more than polished enough to reflect the sunlight, making his "partner" an easy target to track.
"Okay, 'Calibird'..." His grin getting wider and wider, Sonic began to chase after the bird and, at the sight of the blue haired human picking up speed, the bird started to pick up the pace. "I hope you're ready to lose this race, because I never lose when it comes to speed!"
And thus, chasing after a bird made of steel, laughter painting his voice, forever giving taunts, Sonic the Hedgehog's newest adventure began.
