When Zod wakes up, his first thought is, Where am I? He finds himself lying in an unfamiliar bed and staring into a room that he can't place. Realization hits, however, when he turns over to see Cordelia lying next to him, and memories from the day before flood in. Apparently, they spent all night together. He must have lost track of time and fallen asleep. He can't help but consider how much extra he's going to have to pay his driver, but it's nothing more than a passing thought. Money and business seem so far away at the moment.
He gives Cordelia one more glance, smiling softly at her peaceful face. Then, doing his best not to wake her, he sits up, letting his feet fall off the side of the bed and touch the floor.
