End of an era

Mar 27, 2007 21:44

This week has been one of endings - though not of life, pets, hobbies, computers or even phones; but of television. The end of Rome (forever) and BSG (series 3) leave a hole in my viewing schedule that is unlikely to be filled by Lost (getting a bit rubbish) but may be by Heroes (which has taken 6 weeks off while they celebrate having a whole ( Read more... )

"One surprising discovery, visible from the motorway, was the 52nd Mormon Temple near Chorley."

I remember when that was being built, back when I lived in Preston. There were radio adverts inviting people to look around it before it was closed to the public, to see it's "wonder".

It's always made me feel vaguely uneasy.

"Of course it’s likely I’ll never get invited back there now, after having committed the cardinal sin of criticism."

That's funny, I have no idea how you managed to get through the entire event without ever having met Rich, Sam or Mikey...

Criticism is usually good, personally I thought it went passably, there where several fairly obvious problems from my point of view. The players seem to have had fun in the end which is gratifying....

I love the LDS Temple in Chorley. It really reminds me of the Hawksoor Churches. Non-LDS don't stand much chance of getting inside though if you missed open house; hell, a lot of LDS themselves won't get a Temple recommend if I remember rightly...

So what have they got to hide!?

Well, the gestures and words taught at Temple give LDS members the only way to become worthy enough to enter the presence of God; that is to achieve Godhood themselves. So you can see why they wouldn't want just anybody learning it...

So it's where they hide the lammies and the ritual scripts?

I've seen a tiny bit of the first part of Heroes. Is it that gruesome all the way through?

I'm lost without Sky One. Still, BT line in this weekend, so then we can get a dish.

Next financial year I hope to spend £5k on a new laptop and camera. It will both make me a better photographer and allow me to carry two phones and two laptops around with me. I will then write long epic livejournal entries on the train and maintain a pretty reasonable policy of not abusing work’s laptop too much. Now all I have to do is find the £5k before claiming some of it back from the taxman.

Which reminds me, I’ve just been playing with Adobe Lightroom and I like it. I possibly even like it enough to buy it. It runs, does what I want and while it isn’t as good a UI as Potatoshop it is pretty much there.

Very shiny. I am guessing that might be a 1D3. We shall be able to find you by the sound of the mirror clacking away at inordinate speeds. I like the use of clacking there, it gives me a wonderful mental image of you wandering around the Spa at Whitby with a hen in your hands, trying to look innocent about it.
