Are there any requirements that volunteers need for this protection squad, or once you volunteer are you automatically a member of it without the need of expression what sort of skills we might have?

No requirements- only that the volunteers understand what it is they're involving themselves in and accept the liability and potential danger. There are several branches to join, and several things that is expected of each.

I have experience in patrols and even individual protection from missions back in my home world. I'm also a medic ninja, so while I can provide physical protection and help keep an eye out for potential danger, I can certainly give you a hand trying to create a healing branch.

Also, I may be able to help out a bit in the organization branch. My teacher back home was the leader of our village, so I've been exposed to the inner workings of the village for the last few years, something that might help out with getting the protection squad put and kept together.

Perhaps you could help in multiple fields- though I admit that the brunt of the work seems to be in organization. Timekeeping, event summaries, plans for a potential marketplace and other social environments through which people can develop a sense of unity.

[Castiel still looks exhausted; last week's event was extremely hard on him. But it was the event itself, and what it had reminded him of, that's prompting him to reconsider this entire 'police' or 'protection' force or whatever it's going to be called now. Not the risks of such a force; he's only been reminded of them, in the worst way, but of how he should handle it.

What do the research positions entail?

It depends. Mostly, I feel that we should gear our studies toward the Animus firstly- pushing ourselves to understand them and exactly how they effect us, so we can maintain a hope at all of overcoming future events. Secondly, the very mechanics of this world- exactly how people, buildings, plants and animals are pulled in and how they leave. If we can accomplish that, we might be able to fix what the scientists broke, years ago.

[Well, he's already been working on both on the side, for his own reasons. His siblings are horribly unhelpful in this aspect, and joining up with some others to study as a group might be useful. It's too much for him to do alone at the same time as dealing with events and trying to keep Lucifer in line.]
