EXCUSE ME???? WTF did I just read?

Jun 07, 2012 09:00

So you know how yesterday I was all "Oh, the FF.net thing is irritating, but I'll just back up my fics and say to hell with it"?

Yeah, that was yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday evening I got this ... review. I'm posting the first part of it here because I forgot to save it in its entirety. Which is fine, because really just the first paragraphs are ( Read more... )

dangers untold, writing, shoves story, flailing, fanfic, buffy, srs biznez, dust, knife is crazy, labyrinth, ranting

... holy shit. I'd say that dear little publicwish has balls, but somehow this the greed cancels out the audacity. Ugh. Ugh, ugh, ugh. Let me know if you track this individual down and want to unleash Fans with Flamethrowers. /creepy, maybe, but WHO CARES.

*hugs you*

(also: way to play hardball!)

Crap. I haven't read those other stories yet!

Luckily I am not one of those people who think I can finish another authors work for them. Hell I have stories on my favorites on FF that haven't had an update for YEARS!!! I wait patiently, with the occasional email to the author to check to see if they plan to update. I would never suggest finishing someone else's work. Although there are a few stories out there that after reading I could see a sequel take shape in my mind. But again I would never presume to do so. Nor have I ever even considered asking the author for permission to do so.

But for "thepublicwish" to put that in an review? At the very least a pm would have been more appropriate. Even then it was rude and ill-mannered.

Well, DUST is up here if you want to read it.

The other two are very old Labyrinth fics of mine. But if you read "Immortal Love" and absolutely must know what happens next, feel free to PM me or email me and I'll send you a copy of what I had posted.

And yes... there are SO many good stories out there that are unfinished and might never be. I re-read them occasionally because I remember them fondly and I hope that they've updated... but no.

I would NEVER be so presumptuous as to presume that I should pick up that story where someone left off. Not unless they specifically asked me to and I had every single note or thought they'd ever had about that story right in front of me for reference and the original author to consult with. And even THEN I still might not, because nothing I could make up would be what they'd intended.

And yeah... a PM would have been nice. But then it wouldn't have been as anonymous. Or as much of a threat.

People really are entitled little shits, aren't they? If your story turns up in another incarnation (since it seems as if this idiot is saying they're going to dole these stories out to be continued by someone else), let us know. ~cracks knuckles~

~nods~ I took down a WIP in the X-Men fandom, since I knew I wasn't going to finish it, but I posted the outline, notes and bits and pieces of the last chapter to my Yahoo group, since I didn't want people to wonder how it would have ended. But I would have been furious if someone else just decided to take it up and finish it without my permission. :/

Wow. That's really rude. And really arrogant, too. I wouldn't read a continuation of DUST that wasn't written by you. It wouldn't *be* DUST. I'm not here for the story. I'm here because the writing is extraordinary.

I have ten chapters that I haven't finished editing.

I can't even say how excited this makes me feel. I know it will take some time to finish the editing an get it to a place where you feel it's ready to put up, but it's like whenever there was any kind of gossip off of the set of The Avengers. Just acknowledging that there is this thing out there that I'm really excited about and it's being worked on is enough to make me all flavors of thrilled.
