People pay way way WAY too much for simple articles of clothing. Think how many children in Africa you could save by wearing off-brand clothing from Buffalo or wherever. No really, think in those terms.

P.S. I'm gonna pay >$50k for a new car.

I always get confused when people say that making clothes is cheaper than buying them. It made a little more sense when I realized two things:

1) I don't buy new clothes. Spending more than twenty bucks for a single article of clothing is luxurious to me.
2) I need to buy a lot more fabric to make a single article of clothing than most people do. Storebought clothes don't charge by size; homemade ones do. :)

That said, for people for whom neither of those things is true, making clothes is cheap (and fun and not terribly hard depending on what kind of stuff you want).

huh. I'd never heard that making was cheaper than buying.
I think what would make making clothes expensive isn't the monetary investment, but the time investment.

Well, yeah, there's that. You don't worry about that bit so much when you love doing it ; ) or when you're me and have all the time in the world to sell.
