Chapter 4 finally up

Aug 22, 2008 02:18

Hey there everyone, sorry for taking ever so long to be getting Chapter 4 up. It's shorter then I wanted to to be, but believe that I'll just make the next chapter a lot more action packed.

"Chapter 4: Odd Jobs"

Marissa looked over at Zero for a few seconds blinking.

“A Prince? That’s what you’re looking for?” Marissa asked tilting her head to the side.

“Well, more specifically a Prince from another world… and I heard that he just looks like a shiny ghost.”

The two looked at each other for a few moments silently. Marissa blinked, Zero blinked back. He then sighed and started to turn around.

“Never seen him, but yeah… I know it sounds really crazy in itself. Still, yeah, I’m looking for a Prince, because, well it’s the right thing to do. I just know that he was brought into Area 51 by the government… well actually before the whole war started off.

“Do you need help with looking for him? Or will you need our help at all in it?”

“Actually, if you could keep out a look out for him, I have no idea if he was ever able to break out from it. How about I just give you my frequency so you can keep in touch?”

Marissa looked at him a bit confused at first, then fumbled around to try and find a headset. After a few moments she drew one out and put it on her head, then programmed the frequency into it.

“If you could give that to Raven as well, just in case you two ever split up or anything.” He waited for awhile, his scanner going on the frits. “Who are the guys talking to Raven anyhow?”

The two looked over the wasteland, looking out to the distance of where Raven posed triumphantly in front of the group of the Soldiers and the Reaper.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Raven stood, breathing onto her nails then rubbing her nails on her Trench Coat, smirking to herself.

“I have to say that I am a pretty amazing shot. No need to thank me, but you really should, it’s not often a beautiful girl like myself will save you.”

The Soldiers looked around at each other for a moment, the Reaper puts in headphones and starts dancing in place.

The uglier one of the Solders in the chromatic suit scratched his chin, “What’s a girl like you doing in the Wasteland all alone anyway.”

Raven laughed a bit and used a nail to clean her teeth, “Alone? Oh who ever said I was all alone? I have my friend over there,” she pointed roughly behind her, “She’s kind of crazy at times, might not get along with you guys though.”

The Soldier with the Assault Rifle looked around then turned to her, “Why? Does she have something against Soldiers or the Enclave?”

Raven shakes her head and puts a hand on her temple and her forehead, “Enclave? You’re all Enclave members? That mercenary group that’s funded by the Government and hired just about anyone as long as they’ll get into a group?”

All of the Soldiers look at one another and then nod to her, “Pretty much.” The one whom she initially thought had glowing blue eyes had glowing green guys clicked on the side of his helmet, a small square flickers over his left eye, taking a scan of the area behind Raven. Two circles show up in the square and flash on and off for a moment. “Who are the two people back there?”

Raven looks back for a moment then smiles a bit, “Those two are my friends.” She said, plainly. “But, you guys seem the kind of boring stern military type, so, no need to really introduce you I don’t think.”

The uglier Soldier nodded to the one taking a scan, “We’re not that boring at all, and probably the most interesting people you’ll meet in the wastes.” A red flashing light appeared in the top of his heads-up display went off; he turned his back to her and walked away a bit. “Jayne reporting in for squad 316.”

The voice from the heads-up display was quiet at first, but as he walked a bit further away became clearer. “Jayne, this is HQ. We’ve got a mission for you and your squad if you’re interested, and promise to be real simple and easy.”

“I’ll bet that means the pay is crap then,” Jayne, mumbled to himself, “Alright, what’s the mission?”

“The mission is simple, there’s a tour bus coming through and they want some extra protection. They’ll be coming your way if you want to tag along with them.”

“Sure, we’ll take it. Just link it directly to my account. What’s the E.T.A?”

“Twenty minutes, you won’t be able to miss it.”

“Great, Jayne signing out.” Jayne turned back around to the others, “Alright, we got a job to do. They’ll be here in roughly twenty minutes; they’re a tour bus, so get your gear ready to go.”

The one with the Assault Rifle nodded and started to head back towards the van they came in. The other Soldier with green glowing eyes trailed behind him, pulling in the blades fro his wrists. The Reaper kept dancing in place for awhile, and then slowly followed behind them. Jayne took a quick scan of the area then headed for the drivers seat. They then slowly started up the van and started to drive away from her.

Raven just stood for a moment, waiting for them to get a bit away, then looked down to the ground. “Fang, follow me underground.” Then she started to walk back towards Zero and Marissa.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Zero and Marissa looked over while the van drove off into the distance. Raven came walking up slowly, brushing off her shoulders. Raven looked at the both of them then looked at the direction the van went in.

“What? I got rid of them, they were really snobby.”

Marissa and Zero looked at each other and shrugged for a second.

“Oh, here, this is Zero’s frequency, in case we need to get a hold of him for anything.” Marissa said, turning to show her head set, “99.090, simple enough right?”

Raven nodded and inputted it into her headset, “So, what’d I miss in your talking.”

“I’m looking for a Prince,” Zero said plainly, “I’m more then certain that he escaped from Area 51, but I have no idea where he is now. He looks like a shinny ghost basically. I hear that he can just create things out of thin air.

Raven tilted her head looking questioningly, “A Prince? Really? I never knew you swung that way Zero.”

He just looked at her and shakes his head for a moment, his scanner started going off like crazy, he looked at it for a moment, then sighed, “Well, it seems that I’ve got some business to do. If you want to look for the Prince, I would find that really useful.”

“Alright, Sure, I suppose we’ll go and check out Area 51 for some kind of hints on where he might have headed off to.”

Zero looked around then started heading in the opposite way from where the van had headed. Marissa looked to Raven for a moment, then started looking at the sky for a moment.

“So, there’s North, where is it to Area 51?”

Raven simply walked away from her for a moment, pulling off her Trench Coat, and starts to take other clothing off, “Would you mind looking away?” Marissa turned around and started to look at the sky again. She smiled to herself as she saw a shooting star go by, as the sounds of Raven changing behind her went on. She eventually turned around and started to climb onto the back of Raven again. Raven then started to flap her wings and take flight.

Marissa looks around constantly, squinting at one point where she sees a large hover tour bus bolting across the wasteland with the Van going behind it. Loud rock music blares loudly from it as it blazes away in the distance. The pair continued to fly away from where the tour bus was going.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

A female voice from Zeros helmet for a moment.

“I doubt it Dominique, I just think they didn’t see me, they don’t seem to have good eye sight. Any word from X yet?”

“Negative. Meredith however can’t be reached and said that she’ll be working on a mission for awhile, said something about looking into a new project being worked on by Dr. Addler.”

“Isn’t he the one whose been working on organisms, those gross black oozes?”

“That would be the one. It seems that it’s been able to sustain them and keep them alive for much longer periods of time.”

Zero looked around for a moment, “Probably just as bad as Wily… don’t think he’ll….” He collapsed to the floor, and the voice turned off. His sight slowly went completely dark.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marissa and Raven flew through the night sky.

Raven looked down and stared at a heavily blown out area with large craters all around. A huge wall making a square with lights and green energy pulsing all along of it soured from the sky roughly four stories high. The walls themselves had to be at very least three feet thick. Marissa starred in absolute terror as she saw the exact same thing. There was nothing with nature’s love in any direction; everything had been thorn away, and metal and stone towered in its wake. Marissa clenched hard and tried to cry out, but no sound came out. Raven continued to circle around the area to get a better view.

One side of wall was completely blown out. Search lights were going around crazily all around the ground near by where the blown out section was, and further outside going into the waste. Streams of people were running rampant as an alarm was blaring noisily. Raven noticed that some of the people on top of the wall were going towards where the lights were, as well as getting on a few Anti-Air cannons. She decided that this was as good a time as any in which to get away form the area, and quickly. Taking a quick arc, Marissa held on tightly as the two flew away from Area 51. Her heart was pounding furiously, and she fought with herself to not let such a blatant display of unnatural construction cause her to get angry. She moved her head from side to side, trying to knock the little devil off her shoulder telling her to just level the area.

As the two flew away, Marissa perked up for a moment and pointed to the right.

“Over there, I sense an incredibly large force of nature at work.”

Raven flew over, to where Marissa was pointing. She angled down, and flew closer to the ground itself. In the Distance they could see a lot of smoke rising from something that looked metallic. All of a sudden she barrel rolled to the side as a fast burst of fire flew past them. Immediately, she went to the floor and landed so that Marissa could quickly roll off of her. After she was off she took a quick flight elsewhere and started to shift back into her human form.

Marissa looked up to sky to see where the fire was. Much to her amazement, the fire was stationary in the air, and forming what somewhat looked like a bipedal, yet featureless form. She channeled green energy onto herself for a moment then spoke out.

“We mean you no harm creature of flame, you simply startled us.”

The figure went from its bipedal form and flew quickly toward her, taking more of a look of a bullet. He stopped a few feet from her, then instantly changed from fire to a bipedal form of solid rock and stone. The voice sounded gruffled and rough for a moment, but with some shifting she could make out that it sounded like a fairly young voice.

“Well hi there, well I guess Earthling person. Wow, I didn’t know that I would actually be able to talk to anyone on this little rock, that’s quite the welcome surprise. Names Servious by the way, and my buddy over there happens to be Wedge.”

Marissa nervously started to turn around, “I had no idea there was anyone else with you…”

Walking from the smoke and metallic object, a shadow formed the shape of a figure that stood nearly nine feet tall. As some of the smoke cleared, it appeared to be a bipedal figure, that had incredibly muscular wings that looked like they would stretch out to about twelve wide wide. The figure itself, for a lack of a better word, looked like a standing dragon from fairy tales. The body was incredibly bulky, and it had deep emerald scales that covered its entire body. She almost took a large step back as it flapped its wings for a moment, blowing the smoke away. With the smoke cleared, the metallic object looked more or less like a large capsule.

The figured started to head toward her, and started speaking in some sort of language that she just couldn’t understand.

At this point Raven, now changed back and changed whispered to the ground to attack them if they attacked first. She then headed toward Marissa, looking at both the figures.
The one that had changed form fire to earth was now taking a body completely consisted of water, the other figure continued to walk up, and whatever it was saying, it seemed to be getting frustrated that they had no idea what it was trying to say.

Raven quickly changed her frequency to Zero and started up a link, “Zero? Are you there? I think we found some really weird creatures, but I have no idea what either of them are saying.”

It took awhile for the other side to reply, but his voice came in, almost sternly, “I forgot about that, I’ll transmit a translator into your headset for Drazon and Holographics. Don’t have one for the Elementals though. This’ll probably hurt a bit.”

Suddenly a large blare went off on her headset, making a ringing noise go off. The connection was ended, and refused to reply. After a few moments though, the dragon like creatures words were coming in clearly to her.

“Where is Prince Zachari Earthling, and don’t even try to tell me you have no idea on what I’m talking about.”

“We’re looking for your Prince actually,” Raven replied back, still looking uncomfortable with the translator going, “We just have no idea where he could be. Do you speak English at all?”

“I’m Wedge,” the dragon figure stated, “and no, we just got here from drop off, so we have no information on where he is. English I can’t speak though, never learned it.”

Marissa looked over at Raven for a moment, looking stunned, “You can understand him?”

Raven gave her a similar look back, “You can understand the thing that’s changing from fire to earth to water?”

The two looked at each other for a moment, then at the other two. Raven couldn’t help but sigh, “This is going to turn out like a really bad game of telephone.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Soldiers were still following the tour bus to an above ground city. They were going to be at the boarder of Verlo soon. Jayne started to play with his communicator to try and reach the guard of the city, the last thing he really wanted was to be shot at.

Sol, took it upon himself to go into the tour bus with the band itself. He was enjoying himself with drinks and music with the band, loudly singing with them. Ox was also in the tour bus, but was taking walks along the extravagant rugged floor, and looking out the windows for anything coming up. Tyr was in the van with Jayne, and was mostly scanning around, and playing with the radio to find something good to listen to.

Another red flash went over Jayne’s helmet, and he opened the channel, “Jayne reporting.”

“Jayne, this is HQ, after you’ve completed that mission, I believe that we’ve got something more serious for you and your men to do. A strange reading was recorded to be dropped not too far from your current location. We couldn’t identify the object that was falling and need you to check it out. It was said that something had escaped from Area 51, but we’ve not gotten any official report on what had gone, just something completely bizarre.”

Looking flustered that the town guard from Verlo still wasn’t coming in, he replied back, “A chance for some combat possibly? Alright, me and the men will take it. Transmit all relevant information over to us so we have some idea on what we’re up against here.”

I know that mostly Amanda's been asking for this, hopefully I'll be able to sit down and write out Chapter 5 soon.

Rest of my life's going alright. In short, works stressful, but, well, it's still work in the end.
