I have shoulder length, curly hair, that is currently greenish blue. I'm considering dying it back to a natural looking brown or possibly black, but am considering keeping a steak of colour

I have tried the bangs thing, it didn't really work, unfortunately. I could do a couple of streaks within them, but the hair there is quite thin so I'm not sure it'd work out the way I hope.
Yeah, I've definitely had a few bad dye jobs so far /o\. That's the risk of doing them yourself.
Oooh, that could be neat, especially if I went for a black instead of the brown. I could keep some blue at the bottom.
Thank you! I'm fond of it too, but it's so much upkeep- the blue fades to green really quickly and the roots come in brown. With school and work I can't really keep on top of it and celery green hair with long brown roots just isn't attractive.
What about streaks at your temples, like where people start to go gray? I can't quite tell from that picture, but you might even be able to hide those with hair over your ears if you want to be discreet -- and then when you want to show it off, you can pull your hair back.
Mostly, though, I think I'd recommend going with your instinct and go for a solid color. Dark brown would look really nice on you!
Mainly I wanted to say how heartily I approve of your Star Trek costume. >.> Did you make that or what?
I would probably put it on the bottom layer - like underneath all the other hair, since in my hair at least that's where my curls are the loosest and my hair is the most un-damaged. And it won't stand out that much unless you have it up - most of the time it'll just peek out from underneath now and then.
That's actually what I'm planning to do with mine - I have a hot pink and a raspberry purpley color that I want to mix to make a dark pinky purple and just dye one piece on the underlayer.

And thanks! I didn't, actually. It was a birthday present. The material is super cheap, but man, I don't care, I love it so much.
