The Knitter's Bible is good. The Big Book of Knitting Stitch Patterns, maybe.

Beyond pattern books, I keep a copy of Vogue Knitting Quick Reference on hand. I find it especially useful for how-to on do the various increase/decrease stitches, how-to correct errors, and the different cast-on methods.

I highly recommend the Mason Dixon Knitting Book. It was awesome!

One thing to remember is that you should look at knitting books before you buy them. I might love books that don't work out for you, and vice versa. If you're buying a book online, check it out from the library first so that you know before you waste money. I bought Weekend Knitting because of the rave reviews, and it's a good book, but it doesn't really do anything for me. I ordered it on Amazon.com, and I was too lazy to return it, so I'm stuck with a book that I'm not very interested in.

Thanks for the advice. I always go to the library before buying a new knitting book.
