Façade - Lester (12)

Lester signed his name with a flourish on the last report before sighing. It was becoming harder with every blasted anomaly not to be affected by the mounting injuries and deaths the creatures caused.

But he couldn't crack, he couldn't risk showing any weakness to his colleagues for too many of them would seize the chance to attempt to wrestle control from him; and Lester just couldn't risk the possibility of the ARC falling into the hands of those who would misuse the project.

Instead Lester sat in his office and his people never saw beneath his cold, unfeeling façade.

The Great Escape - Lester, Danny (12)

Lester clung to Quinn like a limpet and resisted the temptation to close his eyes tightly as the ex-cop accelerate to high speed and weaved in and out of traffic. Bloody hell, now he understood why the team always scrambled into the other vehicles when Quinn took the wheel.

Lester could have ordered Quinn to stop, he would have preferred to be left by the side of the busy motorway... except he knew Wilder was chasing them and he couldn't risk falling into that man's hands. Not if he wanted to rescue his team from Christine's clutches.

Christine's and Helen's.

Anniversary - Lester/Connor (12)

James carefully opened the door to his flat and listened; even though he knew his lover should have been safely at work. Once satisfied he was alone, James quickly entered and dropped his supplies in the kitchen.

He smiled as he chopped vegetables and meat as he prepared his lover's favourite meal. Once it was simmering, he started the rest of his preparations - setting the table with candles, selecting his lover's favourite music with a distasteful curl of his lip.

He wanted it to be prefect for their first anniversary of being together - Connor deserved only the best.

Promises - Lester/Lyle (12)

Lyle leaned against Lester's desk to straightened Lester's tie, careful as his hands brushed across the dressing hidden beneath the soft silk of Lester's shirt. With a cheeky grin Lyle flicked away an imaginary speck of dust. “You know, I'd never thought I'd be helping you into your clothes. Out of them, yes, but into them...”

Lester gave Lyle a tired glare, “Let me get on with my work and you can see me shirtless later.”

Lyle sauntered to the door, before he turned to look Lester up and down. “I hope shirtless isn't the best you can do, sweetie.”

The Right Type Of Recognition - Lester/Becker (12)

Lester couldn't believe he hadn't checked, but he'd been so certain his work had finally been recognised by his superiors. He sighed, he should have known better, money talked and Burton had no doubt brought his knighthood.

Arms wrapped around his waist as lips nuzzled his neck. “I'm sorry, you deserved it far more than Burton.”

Lester tilted his neck to allow Becker better access. “Unfortunately, the minister doesn't see it that way.”

“I'll have to make it up to you.”

Lester gasped as Becker freed him. There was a lot to be said for the right sort of recognition.

Saying Thank You - Lester, Monty (12)

Lester sighed as he worked through the never-ending paperwork the minister demanded after the ARC's recent security breach. Finally, he paused and rubbed his tired eyes, he was desperately in need of a break before he developed a bloody migraine to go with his aching chest.

He savoured his refreshing cup of coffee before spotting the bowl of apples. He really needed to thank the mammoth for his aid, for without him, Lester knew he'd never have survived the encounter with Leek's future predator.

Lester smiled as the mammoth's trunk tickled his hand before it swiped the apple from him.
