Sir James Lester found himself wondering who he'd pissed off to be lumbered with Quinn; he was a bloody nightmare to deal with. The man was as maverick as Cutter had been, but added in an even greater love of risk taking; even worse, he was a bad influence on one Connor Temple. The boy had almost been killed because Quinn had to be 'the hero'.
Sometimes he wondered why he kept Quinn around, then he remembered Wilder... and he knew the minister - or rather Christine - would force him to take Wilder on if he ever got rid of Quinn.

Lester prided himself on not raising his voice once as he tore into Quinn for his reckless endangerment of his entire team when he'd taken them unprepared through the anomaly to find Abby's wayward brother. The ex-policeman had taken it all, unapologetic to the last, just saying he couldn't leave Jack lost through an anomaly.
It had only been later when Abby came to see him that Lester discovered the truth. Abby had forced Quinn's hand and he had perhaps been a bit harsh when he'd mentioned Quinn's own missing brother and using Jack's rescue as redemption for losing him.
***
Lester watched Quinn, noticing how subdued he was, not once testing security or getting up to any other pranks. Maybe he had been too harsh on him... especially when he was more-or-less innocent of what Lester had accused him off. The other team members where equally quiet and Abby kept shooting him looks.
He sighed and summoned Quinn to his office. He hated apologising but maybe, just this once he'd just have to take one for the team.
“Guv?”
“It has come to my attention I might have been unreasonably harsh on you, Quinn.”
“It's OK, guv and it’s Danny.”

Lester knew exactly how they'd found out and he'd be having words with Connor later. He also know who had instigated it, the irrepressible Quinn, give the man an inch and he'd take the lot. What he didn't know was why he'd agreed.
He leaned back in the plush chair and sipped his beer, listening to his team chat around him and he found himself wondering when he'd become part of it. He'd always kept himself separate before, never even considering fraternising with his subordinates and now... now he was in a pub drinking with them. It was Quinn's fault.
***
Going to the pub on a Friday night turned into a regular thing after that, anomalies permitting. The worst part was that Lester found himself looking forward to the weekend instead of wondering what to do with himself for the entire 48 hours.
It was all Danny's fault and it was a sign of how far Lester had slipped that he called Quinn by his first name now. Soon he'd sink so low as to join in with the caterwauling they called singing and that really would be the last straw.
But somehow, if Danny was there, it made sense.
***
Lester groaned when lips pressed firmly against his own and a hand slid beneath his shirt. He really shouldn't be doing this in the loo of the pub and tried to pull away from Danny's intoxicating presence. Not that it worked, for Danny just fell to his knees and nuzzled Lester's cock through his trousers.
His head hit the wall hard when Danny's lips wrapped around him and Lester didn't care where he was any more. Not so long as Danny was there with him.
He tugged Danny to his feet and kissed him, tasting himself. “Come back to mine?”
