Wow - that's all I have to say. I know you had been talking about this, but I didn't realize that you can do this within the next year! That's so exciting!

And good on Jeff too for doing something like this - and it works out so well that the both of you can take the time out to do this.

Goodluck!

Thanks! I have a brilliant idea for a fundraiser that I really want to run past you. I think you will be interested in being involved. That's all I have to say for now since I don't want to release any spoilers on the LJ yet :-P

Hope to talk to you soon :-)

Well, we should meet up and chat about it or email is good too if that works. I've got friends over for the weekend, so I won't be able to make it to Friday's knit night either.

Or call me! :)

Yes, I think I'll call you about it... Maybe one of these evenings after classes, weekdays are really busy for me now!

Sounds like a really great venture. And a great way to learn another language. Best of luck to you both!

thanks!
I know a bit of spanish, but it definitly would help me learn more! I think I'll have to take some spanish classes before I go also.
Think of the photo op's! I'll have to drag out the old Canon Rebel to take with me :-P

Hey i'm glad you both are getting involved in this kind of experience. I went to Peru few years ago in a student/turist way but I think I could help you and give you some advise anyways, and also help you with your Spanish.

I can't believe I didn't think of that before! We could get together and speak spanish to get me ready! I think I'm going to try for Spanish class in the winter semester...

Congrats, that all sounds really, really exciting!!

If you are looking for other possiblities for working/helping out while you are down there, I looked into a restaurant/hostel in Peru that also runs a language school for local children and a huge number of other "let's do what we can to help the locals" projects. If you are remotely interested I could dig up the website for you.

I could also send you some really amazing Learn Spanish discs (which I will not mention by name, seeing as how they are not ...official... copies) but they have done wonders for my Spanish in preparation for my return to Uruguay and Argentina this winter.

wow! thanks for the offer of the disks! That would be awesome! This is all still a dream/idea, but I'm feeling more and more excited about it anyways! :-)
If things don't pan out for the children's hospital, then I'll ask you about the language school and other projects you found.
