merci! I can't wait for it to be done so I can wear it. It's heading into the cold rainy season and I totally need some nice wool sweaters to keep cozy.
What IS double knitting, anyway? Is it knitting two things at once, or a certain kind of stitch? (I just remember that 80s 'Parents just don't understand' song with the lyric, 'Mom, put back those double-knit reversible slacks!'. I always wondered what double-knit slacks were.
well in true old skool double knitting would mean knitting a garment that is double thick.. ie. 2 layers of knitting attached together...
New skool double knitting means knitting 2 pieces at once, as in you have the stitches for 2 objects on one set of needles. Each stitch from the first object alternates with a stitch from the second object. You use 2 balls of yarn (one for each object) and you knit one stitch with ball A on object 1, the second stitch with ball B on object 2 and back and forth. Thus when you are done with one object, you're done with the second one too. I was using it to make sleeves both simultaneously so I didn't have to write down my increases and decreases. They would both be the same.

Hi Nessa! Thanks for your comment on my very old post - yikes, I need to update my blog. I have indeed heard of your knitting group as I also knit with Ellen (who has attended your group a few times). I may pop by as I live fairly close to Khona. Thanks for the friendly invite! ~Robin aka http://craftybird.blogspot.com

This tutorial explains the nitty gritty if my explanation is too bizarre...
