these ones are wool, so yea, handwash if coffee or tea spills. These are being made for a local university group called Stand For Darfur. They are going to sell these at an Amnesty International Film Festival in November and the proceeds will go to relief funds for the people who have been displaced from their homes in Darfur.

wow, those are really incredibly beautiful! Put what i've so-far made to shame...heh. we're all incredibly grateful! unfortunately...and this really sucks...i won't be able, ever, to make the tuesday bitchybees...i'll do my utmost to make the fridays! beautiful, beautiful work! i have been inspired to...go spend more money. on wool. which is not the good sort of inspiration to have--rather breaks the bank after awhile--but hey, it's wool! I can't remember if i already told you this, but if you want to knit "STAND 4 DARFUR" or "STAND" or "DARFUR" or "S4D" into any cozies, that'd be great, too. no obligation, though :). hopefully, i'll see you this coming friday!
Thanks Carolyn!! I love this project because I have a bag of stash bits, you know, ends of balls of yarn that were left over after their projects were finished. This is a great way to get rid of all those extras. I bet if you get a big skein of wool, like patons classic wool or something, you could make lots and lots of cozies out of just one skein... so it wouldn't break the bank too badly. I completely understand though since I too am on a student budget. Also I am definitly going to try putting the logo on a few of them! That's a great idea! I hope to see you on friday at knit nite! :-)
Awww, pear crumble coffee cake! Ah well, hope it was delicious. Hope the car's doing alright and sorry you couldn't make it - we missed you (cake or no cake ;) )!

You know, I just made them up out of my head! If I have time later I'll try to write down how I did it, but it'll take a bit of thinking to remember :-)
If you are like me and just want to wing it, you can grab any old yarn and a pair of suitable sized needles and knit a rectangle. The idea is that the rectangle needs to be long enough to cover a mug. I also knit a little strap to put through the handle of a mug on the blue and brown one. It has a button hole at one end for fastening. The rainbow one is basically the cuff of a sock with ribbing on both ends, it likely has about 40-45 sts around in total on sock sized needles.
Hope this helps, if not, as I said I'll try to write them down sometime this week.
