Instead of ripping back, you could probably just pick up a yarnover from the row below. The yarn will be a little tight/tension off, but it evens out just fine from the sts around it?

Hope that works instead of ripping 282 sts!

I ripped it back tonight at knitting, and I am on my way again. The main problem was that I didn't know where I had missed the YOs, and I was in the middle of separating the body sts from the arm sts. That's where I noticed the stitch deficit. I'm trying to be really really careful now, and counting each section to make sure I have the right # of sts.
