I've got several hats made out of acrylic and acrylic-blend yarn that I'm looking to donate. Since a lot of charities want items made out of wool, anyone have any suggestions for charities looking for acrylic hats?

There hasn't been much activity here lately, and I wanted to tell people about the Dulaan Project.  One of the people who is involved in promoting the project recently posted some pictures of kids recieving the hats and sweaters people knitted.  It was pretty inspiring to me, and I thought you guys might feel the same.

OK, I found this pattern for knitting a little teddy bear; it seems to be the simplest one that I could find. While I love the idea of getting together (virtually) and knitting something that could be auctioned for charity, teddy bears make me happy too, and require less organization (which I can't offer). What can we knit and how can we help? Somebody has to have a suggestion here.

My mom's school district's contract is ending in a bit and there's a bit of conflict over some of the terms of the new contract. I don't know all the gritty details, but it's serious enough that if it doesn't get resolved soon, there will be a strike.
