"You have to spin a mile of crap."

I don't remember who said that, but it's true. And applicable to many things.

I've heard it as a pound of fleece. Halfway through last weekend, I panicked, decided it must have been two pounds of fleece because surely I would still be spinning crap at the end of the pound I have and ordered another pound.

Now I have lots of fleece. Two pounds of BFL and I should be not terrible.

That looks absolutely knittable to me. Actually, it looks quite nice. I mean, have you SEEN some of the "art yarn" people are spinning and selling for a premium? I think yours is lovely.

My goal is to be able to spin my own sock yarn. Or sock weight yarn, anyway, since that's what I use most often.

It looks like yarn to me.

Jeexo-pete, woman! It's WONDERFUL, especially as a first, second, or thirtieth attempt. It's even, it's small diameter. See? Wonderful! Most beginners will spin rope, not threadweight. They will spin what's currently called "artist's yarn" (which sells at a huge premium - what's up with that?). And they will so overtwist the yarn that plying, wetting and weighting, and extra prayer will not help it out. I'd say you're 3 for 3 ahead of the game. I can see some slight overtwist here and there, which I'd bet good money will come out in the plying. I'm impressed.
