Needle Beetle's Tiger Swallowtail Shawl worked in laceweight wool on 3.5mm needles instead of the DK weight cotton on 4.5mm needles the pattern calls for... in spite of the drastic change in materials, the shawl came out to be the same size as the pattern called for!
The pattern is only one page of words... and MASSIVE CHARTS. I had to copy the pages and mark off every single line with a Sharpie - enlarging the chart would've been a great help, too. Because of how often the patterning is worked, stitch markers are not feasible for most of the shawl; at the few parts where stitch markers could be used for more than a few rows , they wouldn't be needed anyway - not very many places that a clear patch of stockinette or garter like that existed!
I used Handpaintedyarn.com 's laceweight - this whole shawl only took one hank. I had only a few yards left at the end, but it worked!
