I guess I agree with jessimuhkaknits about chains vs. LYSs. I have to say though, the AC Moore where I live sells really, really nice yarn. LYS quality yarn.
*psst* Are you still looking to swap for your copy of Knitting on the Edge? It doesn't look like you've given it away yet from your knitswap post.
The Beverly's here sells LYS quality yarn, but I wouldn't call it a LYS. It's a fabric/craft store with a bettern than average yarn selection (and an excellent book selection).
The person who posted that message either works for AC Moore or a PR firm representing them: "her" account was created a week ago, the only entry in her journal is about the sale, and she has posted ads in many crafts communities: ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
My favorite is this entry in phillyknitters, where someone called her on being a shill, and she was like, ohhh, ACM is just some nickname, I forgot where it came from guhurr! Dear marketers: I know your are smart people, but that means you're gonna have to work harder to act dumb in a convincing way.
Anyway, from a marketing standpoint, it's obviously beneficial to encourage people to think of a big box store as their LYS.

heh, good eye.
I will also take this opportunity to acknowledge the irony of having a typo in a sentence that criticizes someone else's competence. I know your are smart people... what can I say? ┐('~`;)┌

*I mean like a big national chain, not a LYS in one town that does really well and opens a second store.
edited because I mixed up circumference and diameter.

haha, JOKING. The comments here are great. Is the store doing so poorly that she has to advertise in livejournal communities?
