I can't see the second link? But the first one...I confess, I don't really have objections, either. Yeah, it's a cis person talking about trans issues, and there's a couple places where she goes places that I personally might not advise her to go, but on the whole, it's...pretty good.
uh, can't you just tell people your friend is trans without resorting to hideously misguided children's advice columns?
But some people, too, who turn out not to be trans, can experience gender dysphoria because the process of puberty is so uncomfortable for everyone, even if you're not trans, but feel better over time without any kind of transition or surgery at all.
yeah, fuck you, too. what sort of cissy dipshit would honestly believe the letter writer sounded just confused? did the columnist even read his letter?
...this sounds...familiar. Who's the cranky poster?
Also, yeah. I felt like the "even if you aren't trans" is useful, frankly. It's "you are probably trans, but if you are not, it is still okay to feel the way you are feeling, and Dear Readers, you too, and you should know all your options." It's not, like, reparative-therapy assholery from where I stand, and it's--this kid is just learning that there are possibilities at all, leave alone lots of them. When I was first dealing with my feelings as a teenager, I didn't know what my options were even a little bit.
And honestly, it's important for him to realize that there isn't One True Way of being trans, that maybe he just wants to take hormones, or figure out how to be more confident in his male body, and maybe getting top (and bottom) surgery isn't for him. As you said, all his options.
I'm glad I'm not still trans 101 level and completely clueless.
