After four months of not posting (not that anyone noticed ... lol), I am DRIVEN to LJ by the unexpectedly delightful appearance of Joss Whedon's online supervillain musical, "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog."  It's silly and fun and ONLY AVAILABLE THIS WEEK.  Check it out at www.drhorrible.com.  (I understand there that folks in Europe may have had ( Read more... )

I've just found this, jut two years late?

My... wildest, I suppose you could say, memory of teaching children to knit was in the mid 60s. One of the girls was very left handed, and couldn't get the hang of knitting at all. I'm ambidextrous; so I took a pair of needles and some wool home and spent the evening practising knitting left-handed, then the next day I had her class, I showed her what to do. And she picked it up, no bother!

I left that school a few months later, and it's been my hope ever since that whoever took over that class didn't try to force her back into trying to knit right-handed.

Considering that's the last thing I posted, I'd say it probably didn't matter much ( ... )

No, I don't do Facebook. I feel that LJ has drawn more of thee fandom/fanfic 'interest'. If I do go onto another of the social networks it'll be Dreamwidth, which also seems to have drawn in fandom.

One of the things I have against Facebook is that according to a friend who is on it, it uses real names rather than pseuds (ssomething she's happier with) and I'm more comfortable using a pseud - or my first name, but not my full name. (My main cmplaint about LJ, though, is that people who used one pseud when they were on the lists or for writing have in many cases had to use a different one on LJ because their preferred/original one had already been taken by someone else. That's why I have the 458 tagged on to Bluewolf - that had already been taken, as had bluewolfen, the name on my webpage.)

OK, against the 'real name' argument is the guys you hear about who go onto Facebook pretending to be someone they're not. Probably not as many as the media would have you believe, certainly.
