Fic #2: Spy vs. Spy

Liam draped himself over the back of the sofa so he could look over Nicky’s shoulder. “Whatcha readin’?”
“A book about a hooker,” Nicky replied.
Liam considered this for a few minutes. “Racy?” he asked, rather hopefully. Nicky rarely read anything of the kind. He was the only person Liam knew who was capable of reading Playgirl or Playboy for the articles - and just for the articles, without ever seeing a single picture. Still, he was not without hope that someday Nicky would develop an independent sex drive.
“Not really,” Nicky said. He frowned faintly. “Actually, it’s kind of weird. Maybe you should read it.”
“Me?” Liam asked, a little startled. He was on the opposite end from Nicky - capable of reading a Playboy or Playgirl without ever realizing there was a single article. Beyond the fact that Miss December liked the same flavor ice cream as he did.
“Yeah. It’s about this sixteen-year-old whore and he . . . seriously, just read it.”
Liam accepted the book with a furrowed brow and plopped down on the sofa next to Nicky. He was a much slower reader, but that didn’t bother Nicky, who just picked up the next book in the stack without pause. Liam got through the first chapter and then remarked, “They know a lot about gay sex for a couple of girls. I thought you said it wasn’t racy.”
“Keep reading,” Nicky said.
Liam read for a half an hour without saying anything else. Then he looked over at Nicky and asked, cautiously, “Do you get the feeling that we’re being watched?”
