McCain ahead by 40?

I'm not sure where the other 40% went, but I suspect this New York Times posting of a recent Gallup Poll has somehow made a mistake here that falls outside of "statistics" and somewhere between "lies" and "damn lies"..

(ETA: They seemed to have fixed it. They had Barack ranked at 4% and McCain at 44%)

Holy crap!!!

I suspect that there was a confusion between the "Obama" number and the "undecided" number. Either way, I don't like to think of McCain being in the lead, either by 2% or 42%.

Perhaps they meant by years, not by points.
