I think I would have added the Splendid Fairywren to my list of favorite birds for its name alone, but the fact that it moves via "a series of jaunty hops and bounces", cemented its place.

The jaunty Splendid Fairywren? That IS excellent. Eryk, our stepdad and I made up fake bird names one day several years ago, and this one ranks right up there with the Rustic Pubehen, but has the advantage of being real!
