Jongin decides on 'Operation Romeo' as a mission name for three reasons: it states a clear goal, it's a direct contrast from the reputation that he has with his members, and most importantly it sounds ten times cooler than Baekhyun's suggestion of Operation Better Boyfriend. The groundwork for the operation was painful, consisting of eight hours of watching Disney movies that were so clichéd that Jongin wanted to puke. However, by the end of it he's certain that he's ready to carry out the task.
Plan A occurs the following afternoon when Joonmyun comes back from buying takeout for the group. When he gets out of the van, Jongin notices that his grip on the plastic bags containing the food is a bit tight.
"I can get those," he offers as Joonmyun closes the door of the van with his foot, but Joonmyun shakes his head.
"I've got them," Joonmyun says with a smile. "They're not heavy,"
"Then I'll get the door," Jongin says, quickly changing to his backup plan. He runs towards the entrance of the building and gives the door a hard push before he remembers that it revolves.
Crap, he thinks as he loses his balance and crashes into the door in front of him. He slides to the floor with a groan. That's gonna leave a mark.
"Are you alright Jongin?!" Joonmyun asks, concerned as he looks through the glass door.
"I'm fine," Jongin mumbles against the revolving door, though he feels a headache coming on.
Joonmyun forces Jongin to sit while he makes an ice pack for his head and Jongin sighs and spreads out on the couch, making a mental note to refrain from looking like an idiot for Plan C.

Jongin thinks that continuing with simplicity is best, and for Plan C, he buys Joonmyun a bouquet of flowers as a 'thank you present' for taking such good care of him.
"Thank you," Joonmyun says with a smile as he takes the flowers, but Jongin notices him wrinkle his nose and he gets a sinking feeling in his stomach.
"You don't like them?" he asks, panicking.
"No they're really pretty," Joonmyun says, sniffling and holding them at arm's length as he puts them in a vase. "It's just that - achoo - I'm allergic to sunflowers. I can't keep them. But -"
He pulls out his cellphone, and Jongin frowns as the older man snaps a photo of the sunflowers.
"Now I'll always - achoo - have them with me," Joonmyun says with a smile.
It's not the same, not even close, and Jongin feels extremely disappointed as he watches Joonmyun blow his nose. He knew he should have gone with the 'thank you cake' instead.

Despite the fact that he just returned from an intense dance rehearsal and he wants nothing more than to pass out in his bed, Jongin forces himself to go into the kitchen to carry out Plan F. Ten minutes later, he pokes his head in Joonmyun's room.
"I made dinner," he says, wearing a triumphant grin and Joonmyun smiles as Jongin places a large pot of beef ramen between them.
"It smells great!" Joonmyun says cheerfully. "Though, you didn't have to go through all that trouble. I know you're tired."
"It wasn't any trouble at all," Jongin says flushing slightly as he hands Joonmyun a pair of chopsticks.
Jongin silently thanks Kyungsoo for buying a bigger ramen pot. The noodles were boiled without having to be broken, making them as long as possible, and within minutes Jongin feels a pull on his teeth. He holds back a grin as he realizes that the other end of the noodle that he's eating is in Joonmyun's mouth and keeps his eyes on the carpet as he eats, hoping that Joonmyun won't notice -
However, the second that the thought enters Jongin's mind, Joonmyun lets out an exclamation of surprise and cuts the end of the noodle with his teeth.
"I'm sorry," he says sheepishly and Jongin holds back a noise of frustration as he shakes his head.
"Don't worry about it," he says with a smile.
"What are you so angry about?" Sehun asks when he walks in the kitchen to see Jongin furiously scrubbing the ramen pot.
"Nothing," Jongin says through gritted teeth. "Nothing at all."
Sehun makes his ice cream cone in silence, deciding that it's best to let it go.

Since simplicity seems to be failing, Jongin decides to skip to Plan M for a grander approach, and he puts it into effect on a rainy afternoon.
"It's been pouring for hours," Joonmyun says, frowning as he looks outside the window of the practice room. "I hope it lets up soon. I didn't bring an umbrella."
"I brought one," Jongin says a little too eagerly as he holds up his dark blue umbrella for Joonmyun to see. "Let's share it."
Jongin keeps a tight hold on the umbrella handle as they walk down the sidewalk taking care that the raindrops don't hit Joonmyun. The wind begins to pick up every once in a while, wrestling with Jongin's grip, and when it almost pulls him down the road, Joonmyun puts his hand on top of Jongin's to steady it.
"Careful!" he says, and Jongin's heartbeat speeds up at his touch.
Another gust of wind blows and the pressure makes the umbrella snaps in two, leaving Joonmyun and Jongin to run back to the dorm in the rain. They make it to the dorm five minutes later soaked from head to toe, and Joonmyun laughs as he attempts to shake the water out of his hair. He looks gorgeous and as Jongin leans towards him he thinks that the plan won't be a total loss after all if he can just -
"- we should get inside and change," Joonmyun says. "We can't afford to catch colds."
Jongin mutters under his breath as he follows Joonmyun inside. He pulls a blanket out of the closet, throws himself on the couch and wraps himself in it, wearing a scowl that Chanyeol thinks could frighten small children…and maybe a few large children too.

The Jomtien Beach in Thailand is the perfect location to try Plan T, and while the other members tour the town, Jongin steers Joonmyun in the direction of the beach for a stroll.
"It's so peaceful here," Joonmyun comments as he looks around. "It's a nice change. We've been so busy lately that we've barely gotten a chance to relax."
"Or a chance to be alone," Jongin adds.
"That too," Joonmyun says with a grin and Jongin smiles back. He thinks that he's set the mood enough.
He starts to reach for Joonmyun's hand, but the sound of a whistle blowing stops him in his tracks. He whirls around and glares at the life guard, wondering why he couldn't have waited another minute or two before ruining his entire day.
"It looks like he wants us to leave the beach," Joonmyun says, frowning. "That makes sense. The sun is setting and the tide will be coming in soon."
When they arrive back at the hotel, Jongin enters the room he shares with Kyungsoo and flops down on his bed, burying his face into his pillow. Kyungsoo looks up from his book and sighs, moving to sit on the side of Jongin's bed.
"I'm sorry," he says quietly, patting Jongin's back.
"I think there's a conspiracy against me," Jongin mumbles as he turns his head to look at Kyungsoo, and the older male shakes his head.
"You've just been having some bad luck, that's all," he says. "But I'm sure you'll ace the next plan."
The words seem to trigger something in Jongin and he smiles and sits up, giving Kyungsoo a hug.
"Thanks, hyung," he says.
"I'm glad I could help," Kyungsoo replies, grinning as he hugs him back.

Jongin decides to hell with everything else and jumps to his ace in the hole, Plan Z. On the evening that they arrive back in Seoul, Jongin takes Joonmyun up on the roof and the older male gives him a confused look.
"Why are we up here?" he asks as he's made to sit on a red blanket located dead center of the rooftop.
"You'll see in a minute," Jongin says excitedly as he sits next to him. The atmosphere is perfect. It's a warm summer evening, and the sky is cloudless and full of stars. The only thing missing is a romantic display of fireworks. He keeps his eyes on the sky, waiting for the bursts of the light to begin…
…but they don't come.
"Oh no," he groans.
"What?" Joonmyun asks quickly.
"Give me a minute hyung," he says as he gets up and races towards the edge of the roof.
"What's going on down there?" he hisses.
"They won't light!" Sehun calls from the balcony of EXO's dorm. Jongin groans and sprawls out on the roof defeated. He should have known something was wrong when he got the fireworks for 75% off.
Joonmyun watches Jongin from afar and sighs, knowing that the plan has changed. He gets up taking the blanket with him, walks over to Jongin, and flops down on the ground next to him.
"What's wrong?" he asks, draping the blanket over the two of them.
"Everything," Jongin replies miserably. "I planned a giant fireworks display but the fuses didn't light."
"You planned a fireworks display?" Joonmyun asks surprised.
"I planned a lot of things for you this week," Jongin mutters.
"Wait a minute…" Joonmyun says slowly. "You mean your weird behavior this week was for me?"
"Yeah," Jongin says lamely. "…and what do you mean weird?"
"What brought all this on?" Joonmyun asks amused.
"You're always doing cheesy things for me," Jongin says quietly. "I just wanted to make an effort for once."
Joonmyun laughs and gives Jongin a kiss on his cheek.
"You made a great effort," he says. "But from now on, leave the romance to me alright?"
"You know, I think I can live with that," Jongin says, sighing in relief.
