Summary: In which Jinri is a hopeless romantic, and Taemin is dragged along for the ride.
One summer evening, Taemin ends up on the roof of Jinri's apartment, sitting on a pink quilted blanket and wondering why he agreed to do something so ridiculous. Off the top of his head he can think of ten things he would rather be doing than watching a meteor shower: reading comic books, playing video games, watching television, catching up on some much needed rest…
"It should be starting soon," Jinri says as she double checks the view in the telescope, and as Taemin rummages around in the picnic basket that she prepared, he sighs in relief: they were running low on food.
"That's great," Taemin says. Seconds later, he looks up from the basket to see Jinri frowning at him.
"Well, I'm glad that you're having fun," she says.
"I am having fun," Taemin says, attempting to save face. Jinri snorts.
"You're a terrible liar," she says as she flops down on the blanket. They're both silent for a few minutes, and Taemin brainstorms for a peace offering.
"…did you get the view that you wanted?" he asks.
"Yep," Jinri replies curtly.
"…do you want to split a chocopie?"
"I'm not hungry," Jinri says as she folds her arms over her chest, and Taemin sighs once more.
"I'm sorry," he says. "I just don't get why a meteor shower is so special."
"It's not about the meteor shower," Jinri replies. Before Taemin can ask her to clarify she squeals and jolts upright on the blanket.
"It's starting!" Jinri says as she looks up at the stars, and Taemin follows her gaze to see a meteor sailing across the clear, midnight blue sky. He slowly starts to forget all of the "better things" he could be doing and decides to enjoy the moment.
"Isn't it perfect?" Jinri asks, glowing, and as Taemin smiles at her, he finally understands.
"Yeah," he replies, intertwining their fingers. "It kind of is."
