[A little overenthusiastic in your bidding, were you? She understands a little about that. If things had played out differently, she could have found herself with four dates. Regrettably, things didn't.]
I can be extremely patient when I want to be.
...
Take too long, though and I might be insulted. [At least her expression looks as if she's teasing!]

Patient?
[ Great. She... still wanted to go through with the date? Even knowing he had four lined up? Well, more like three now that he had passed off his date with Irene onto Zack, as planned. But that wasn't the point! How was he supposed to be around this woman without getting tongue tied and looking like a complete fool? ]
Well, it would be rude of me to ask you to wait...very rude. But, I've got a solution, if you're all ears? Is there anyone in town you'd especially like to spend a little time with? I could pass on my two hours to them. That way you still get to go on a special date and get treated like the terrific woman you are, and to top it all off, you get to go with the person of your choosing! Does it get any better than that?
[If she weren't so upset she'd laugh, even though the laugh would be entirely internal. At least know (or not) that the intent is there? BUT HE SOUNDS SO GUILTY SHE CANNOT HELP BUT TROLL THE ONCE. So here you go.]
Are you sure?
[Teresa showing up and trolling also surely isn't behind her mood at all.]
When did that even happen? Oh, right. After that took place.
Life had a way of uniting people, bringing them together; death had a way of tearing them apart. And rebirth... it just made everything complicated. It erected hurdles where previously there were none, locked doors where once before they had been unlocked, and opened others still that... arguably should have remained unopened.
After Zack had died -- Shiva, it's partly my fault! -- Kunsel had wanted to move on. No, at first he had debated getting back at Shin-Ra, had contemplated all the ways he could go about exacting some kind of revenge for his best friend's murder, but then days had turned into weeks, and weeks into months, and so on. And nothing changed. He remained with the corporation that had took his best friend and idol away from him. He remained because he was cowardly.
Then, one day after everything that had preceded Zack's alleged accident, a new and unusual door had opened. No, not just a door...
[You spend all your time talking to someone over devices, phones and emails, texts. You see their font, you hear their voice, you pick it apart piece by piece, know it as if you can see the lines in their face, the twitches about their mouths, the spasms in their hands.
[Kunsel has always been hard to read because of the helmet, because of his smile, because of the devices, but his heart was always plain as day to Zack. Even now. Even through the lie.]
A couple of beer, some fresh air -- it's a classic remedy. By morning I'll be right as rain again.
[ Or curled up in the fetal position with some paid whore from Dismas petting his helmet, him trying to sleep off the last legs of a slamming hangover, and her wondering how in the hell she always wound up with all of the weirdos. ]
I'll probably be out for the whole night.
You don't mind...? Or...
[ Guilt. It's a vicious monster. Consumed him, clawing and gnawing away at his insides, relentless... unstoppable. ]
...you're not going to be alone tonight, are you? If I stay out, I mean.
What do you know about people in the city that might study [and know well is implied] dream symbolism?
The ones that are not Isley. He cannot be the only one qualified for such a thing? [I mean, yes, he is ridiculously smart, but prophetic-dream-decipherer? That's not even in the manual ffff.]
I can't say that I know of anyone qualified specifically for interpreting dreams, but maybe there is someone with like qualifications?
As it stands, I think anyone not an Abyssal One would be better than... well. An Abyssal One.
[ He taps his chin in thought, the tap-tappa-tappa-tap sound echoing over the speakers of the Forge. ]
Angeal's smart, but I think that might be awkward for Zack given... well. Things. There's that Nagi fellow, too. He seems pretty intelligent and trustworthy. Sasori... but he's kind of. Hm. Dark, I guess you might say? I guess the vibes he gives off aren't necessarily the, uh, purest. Byakuya might be well qualified, though, or that Ukitake guy.
Whoa, wait a minute! What are you talking about? Is this about my talking to Cara? Somebody had to say something! She was out of line, making you pout that way and saying that stuff about Zack...it wasn't at all cool, you know? Between you and me, though? I really do think she's a lot nicer than she lets on. I really just wish I could think of a way to prove it. To her as much as everyone else.

[Smiles wickedly, looking straight into the forge]
You're not ...backing out are you? [Verbal pouting, go.] I don't bite.
Unless you ask nicely.

A word with you, [aaaand in afterthought] please?

[ Kunsel blinks at his Forge, and then can be heard dumping himself back in a chair of some wobbly, creaking variety. A heavy sigh escapes him. ]
Whatever it is, I promise I didn't do it!

But, in my defense, I haven't done it yet! It's still... uh. In the planning stages.
...Which means you can't be here about that. Oh.
[ He clears his throat. ]
So, what's going on, then...?

[He's quiet. Too quiet.]
