After a few rings, he answered. "Hello, Nadine."

She smiled at hearing his voice, leaning forward even though he wasn't actually in front of her.

"Good morning. I hope I didn't wake you up."

"No, I haven't yet been to bed. How are you, Nadine?"

"I--" she thought about the question. "I'm okay." Nadine paused for a moment before she asked, "After you've slept-- which you really should do-- could you... by any chance... make me some new sleeping pills? The ones I have don't work anymore." She didn't know that he'd given her placebos instead of the actual chemicals. "I think I've gotten used to them or something. I'd... really appreciate it. Whenever you have time."
