Since I made a post about my mom, I wanna make one about my dad too.
Here's a bitch of a song I just finished about my dad, and the many sorrows that have afflicted him throughout his life. It was tough to write, so it took me a few months. It's at a place now that I'm satisfied with. I absolutely love my dad, but we have a rocky relationship.

I'm a complete stranger. :) On a complete whim I decided to look at the "recently posted" section...you came up and I was captured. I can already tell by your words that we probably share allot in common but I'll let you be the judge of that. Your lyrics are beautiful but what really caught my attention was your interest in the devil as a literary device. I'm a comparative religious studies major and am also immensely interested in this subject. Anyways, I was immediately reminded of one of my favorite poets...Gerard Manley Hopkins, who, as you're an English major, are certainly familiar with. One of my favorite poems of his also describes the devil but in a different way. The poem is "Spring and Death" - check it out.
With gratitude,
Adian

Adian, thanks a lot for your comments.
Actually, I'm a big fan of Gerard Manley Hopkins as well. I haven't read his poem "Spring and Death," but I'll certainly look for it.
Appropriate due to my new interest in spiritual representations of evil.
Interesting, because I actually began as a Religious Studies major when I first arrived at Berkeley then soon switched to English. I'm not sure if you've ever had the opportunity, but have you looked at Milton's "Paradise Lost?" It's a medieval epic in which the devil is a primary character, almost a protagonist. That's where my interest in the devil as a literary symbol began.
Anyawy, thanks again for your interest.
Much Love,
Nick

I'm delighted to hear that you're a fan of Hopkins. I took an Advanced Readings in Religion, Art and Poetry that introduced me to him. His poetry changed my life. I think my favorite is God's Grandure. :) Anyways, I am familiar with PL; however, I've not read it all the way through...it's totally on my to-do list though. A good friend of mine actually set PL to music...he made a spectacular opera out of it..and opera electronica. If you're interested you can find it at http://www.paradiselosttheopera.com As I understand it...it was only loosely based on the story has transformed even further away from the original story. None the less, it's a spectacular listen. I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks,
