Last Days in San Diego.

My head says not to worry, my heart says this is chaos.
Boxes are beginning to appear.  Moving boxes are stacking up in various corners of the house as my stepmother moves about quietly, trying to create as little disruption as possible.  She's trying to make a clean cut.  What she doesn't understand is that her moving out 2 days before my dad ( Read more... )

Sandi, I was thinking a lot about you the other night -- more specifically, what makes Sandi Sandi. Your greatest qualities have to be the way you relate to people. You are a great comfort, Sandi. You really know how to make a guy feel that it's gonna be alright.

Nick, I'm so glad you and I have kept good contact lately. Just our ability to talk about matters at home, and laugh at certain things (you know what I'm talking about) has been a great blessing. Just like when I called you the other day and you talked to me for a good hour or so despite the fact we were eating up your cell phone minutes. That right there is an answer in my time of need ( ... )

wish i had some meaningful advice for you... zenbohemian August 7 2005, 13:30:47 UTC
hey nick,

just wanted to let u know i still read you LJ :-)

we all have tough times my friend - me, u, your family members, everyone. don't put the whole burden of the events/lives down there on your shoulders. i know u want to help out your family as much as possible, but, you can only do so much...

all we can really do is change ourselves (since such is the nature of life) - we can't change others, no matter how admirable our intentions... and from what i know about you, you've shaped your life around high (spiritual) goals...

cheer up my friend, and know that you are not alone...

the cycle of karma continues, tho there are some of us who strive to break free (for all beings)

Emeric! Of all people, I'm most surprised to hear from you. What a welcome surprise it is.

Wow.. uh.. I don't know what to say. This was such a raw and personal post. Yet you responded with thoughtfulness and grace. I really appreciate that.

Thank you for helping me to have a spiritual perspective on matters. That's one thing I always try to maintain, though it can be difficult when you don't have a like-minded companion such as yourself to talk about things with. What I said about things changing I think is directly derived from Eastern thought. But as you said, the cycle of karma continues. That's such an important lesson to keep in mind. As cliche as it sounds, life ebbs and flows and you can count on change arising. From good into bad, from bad into good.

Thanks Emeric. I really appreciate your concern, but even more your sincerity.
